    Stage 2 hardware

I'm in no rush so obviously I want it all delivered and fitted yesterday! 😂 Yeah speaking with a few garages and tuning places recently, they've not exactly been short of work; it seems that there was a fair few key workers who needed Stage 1 and 2's , R600 Intakes, coilovers and dyno runs so they could make their shifts on time 😉

    Took a friend out..

So I took a friend out in the R yesterday just for a quick spin on some local lanes. He owns a Seat Leon 170bhp diesel which he has had mapped to 200bhp 540nm torque. To sum up our conversation after a 15 minute drive in the R he just couldnt believe it was a Golf... to say he was impressed would be an understatement. There is no doubt this car is impressive, ive had it 3 months, got a pedal box, BCS res delete and some S2t paddles... when I mentioned it remaps from 300 to 360-380 with no hardware required and for £500 he couldnt believe it. Getting on for M car performance for half the price 😁 I am loving this car, not sure if I mentioned that already!

Had my gpf car Revo stage 1 for around a month. Straight forward flash via obd port and that’s it. No different to how they’ve been tuning diesels with dpf for years. Very straight forward for an experienced tuner. I checked my car when it had 5000 miles on and it had only done one filter regeneration in that time and hasn’t done another and it’s turned 7000 miles now, they run very clean anyway. Revo really have invested loads of time and effort to perfect the gpf software and I honestly think they’ve pretty much nailed it.

If your rear wheels weren't spinning as well as the front then your haldex might need some attention. If they were, then maybe four extra sticky Hoosier drag slicks are needed ? 😂

    Took a friend out..

I’m not surprised tbh. I still love mine after over four years. In a toe to toe 0-60 dash against a C63S coupe, it’s a foregone conclusion. In real world driving across country etc, the one I came up against came nowhere. He tried passing me to cut in front at a roundabout - he failed. Off the roundabout through an S bend and I left him fighting his monumental oversteer. I was surprised and shocked - and felt slightly smug. It was quite funny tbh! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    RS3 Ceramic Coated

Decided to bite the bullet and get the rs3 ceramic coated, the swirl marks in the paint were doing my head in when the sun was on it.Really really pleased with the results! definitely getting the R done soon
  16. 1 point
Well my Dragy arrived today....and as i posted on another thread i am lucky to have a piece of road not far from me that is ruler straight, completely flat , in excellent condition and is over a mile long.. Results put a big smile on my face - My R is putting out some incredible stock figures. Bearing in mind this is a full spec with every option bar performance pack discs so it has the heavy pan-roof & electric seats, but does have Akrapovic exhaust and 19" pret's so saving a bit of weight there. DSG of course. I did 2 runs, 1st almost identical to the second, no wheel slip at all off the line - brutal acceleration! Did a cool down run in between. This is on Shell V-Power, about 1/3rd a tank. Outside Temp 10C, Dry. Race mode, ESC off completely (long press), DSG Launch Control. Anyway here are the results! 0-60: 4.17 s 1/4 Mile: 12.56 s 1/2 Mile: 20.0 s 0-130mph: 19.54 s All those are the 2nd run...1st run was 4.23 0-60 and 1/4 mile was 12.55. As mentioned on another thread, i intend to do same tests with different fuels - to see if they make any difference to performance. Will run a few days on Tesco Momentum 99 then run same test, same place under same conditions...may have to wait for the weather to be the same again!

I do hope they bruised themselves badly😂 The whole Carjacking thing is a nightmare, so good for you to now have additional measures in situ. Having such a striking looking GTI Ed40 clearly attracts the wrong sort of envious attention too. Thieving b#stards. Stay cool in that GTI Lewman 😀👍

thank you both, yeah i was really wanting the subtle touches/look Since the incident the very next day the car has really good high end protection now + further additions. On the night though, i do think he was shocked as when he jumped in my driver's seat, i don't think he expected a raise floor with pedal extensions and hard to sit in seat haha, so i think it helped in the prevention of the car being taken as hard to drive for someone tall.

I think it's 'nearly there' I just wish Audi would stop adding faux vents and honeycomb plastic trim on any available piece of real-estate. Those two honeycomb sections on the rear bumper really don't need to be there and spoil what is otherwise not a bad looking car. I'm also not a fan of their recent alloy designs, just too 'busy' and I bet will be a PITA to clean 🤔

So come out to my car at work to see i've got damage in the corner of my bumper.......Luckily the PPF has done it's job & after searching through CCTV at work found the person who admitted it all so would cover it. Car back to my detailer & front corner PPF replaced & quick little wash But good things.......over to my Auto Trimmer to test out the mock up's and go away for a few days and see how it feels. It's too difficulty to make it one large seat so easier to split the two, also if anyone else wanting to drive my car just easier to remove/pull out Decided to have the rear wiper part plastic done in gloss black to match all the other trims, looks like it came out the factory like that My brother took a snap of the CS whilst at Corley Services Damanged my front tyre on a pot hole (luckily the alloy was fine), so decided to replace both fronts to the popular Michelin PS4's....night & day difference!!! wicked tyres, so much better grip, so very happy

Awesome work Lewman! Your car looks a beauty 🖤 ❤️ I love the engineering and ingenuity involved in adapting the car; puts things into perspective, for sure! I'm looking forward to seeing the finished backrest/support; stroke of luck to source that donor seat, they must be pretty rare 👍 Agreed, the car does look better with the tints IMO. The detailers done a fantastic job. Have you got any plans for further mods?

So yep, Monday it is...get the call, car be ready, come collect tonight. Absolutely Buzzing!!!! and the adaption pedal box looked ever better than before, was nice and flush with the flooring. Journey home was great, but sadly quite late now at night, but the power.....blimey, was a big difference coming from that little fiesta, but i knew automatically i'd made the right choice, the car was so.......1 min it could be an animal then next, could just be ordinary relaxed driving, a best of both worlds car. But sadly, i would not get to enjoy it fully for another week as it was booked in for next day first thing to go have PPF and be cermaric coated

That is a very nice bit of kit and judging by the quality of their res-delete kit, I bet the quality is top notch. I've just been speaking to Nige on the phone; crikey it may be October before I can get a downpipe 😲 but it looks like Airtec intercoolers are now in short supply with Airtec themselves completely out of stock. I think everyone used mod-therapy to get through lockdown!

I jumped ship to a FL pre OPF rs3 hatchback last year . I miss the touchscreen more than I thought i would, the rotory controller has a touch pad but its still nowhere near as easy to use as a touchscreen. The Infotainment in general isn't as good as the VW or even Seat equivalent but the Google maps sat nav interface is miles better than the VW equivalent

    Pets and Petrolheads!

Bec, sorry to hear your sad news. Thank you for doing the right thing for your beloved Gingey - sometimes it is very hard, but it is something we must do as responsible pet owners. I've had to do it many times myself, and it never gets easy. I have a 16 year old dog with multiple health problems that I often worry about. The only advice I can give is try and remember all the good times you had together, it might help ease the pain of your loss. [Covid-19 & socially appropriate consoling HUG ]

    All weather tyres ?

To be fair (although we do pick on soft roaders ), it could equally be another R driver assuming AWD beats the laws of physics. Obviously it does happen, however when was the last time someone actually got stuck behind another car (not van or lorry) and it was down to summer tyres and not just tyres with 3mm or under? Always remember a couple years back a mate showing me his winter tyres in action (photos and GoPro). He was up in Peak District, loads snow, his car on winters, zero problems.... well apart from his mates. we told him he was an utter cock for driving up there just to ‘try out’ his winters and take photos and video. if I remember right, we made him pay full bill for the meal - 4 blokes, 3 courses with wine... no matter the tyres, if in doubt stay at home, if no real reason to go out, stay at home.

They are lovely and the 40i engine is mega - I very nearly replaced my GTD with a M140i a few years back. The engine rules the whole experience and the M140i is still on the list of cars I want to own! I ended up keeping the Golf due to a change in commute at the time. The boot on the F31 is only 495 litres compared to the 605 litres of the Golf wagon, the in-coming child and dog makes me think the extra space over the BMW would be beneficial. I’m also abit wary about RWD and like the idea of the all weather ability with the Golf, we live in the SE but much of the area is rural. I appreciate all season tyres can go some way to giving the BMW some ability in poor weather but I think 4wd or FWD would better suit our circumstances!

    Best remap for the Mk7/7.5???

Although late, I went with APR stage 1 and have now lived with it for 7 months and 12K miles. I can honestly say that there have been ZERO drivability, starting, idling, or running issues. It is simply MUCH faster. I clocked 3.8 seconds without the launch mode. On the daily drive - 40 mi at 75+, I’m now averaging 1 MPG better as well. I am stunned with the acceleration from a 2.0L.

all done thankfully as the errors kept coming and coming quite nervy watching it. Just been out for a quick drive, Oh my god are the only words it really is an unbelieve map, this combined with the small hardware changes made have just transformed the car, feels just as smooth if not smoother when just pottering around but the throttle response is much more lively and the power delivery is everywhere and seriously rapid. I dont have a draggy but did a quick standstill run, not even launch control and not in kickdown either, did this before the map and after using an android app, but his really is only part of the story as middle torque and pickup is even more noticable Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

    Virtual cockpit retro fit

All can be retrofitted, just the matter of what you want to spend mate. You dont need to upgrade infotainment system to have VC. Cockpit works fine with any kind of infotainment. But... to have map display on it you need at least Discover Media with part number ending 874B. Or Discover Pro with HW50 or higher.
