    Bec’s Lapiz 8R

Enjoyed some bank holiday hooligan moments today on a trip to and from the supermarket as whacked it in Special mode and DSG in manual, and giggled at the Akra cracks as I pretended the empty city ring road was the Nordshcleife. Never too old to have fun doing mundane tasks! 😁 I love this car!

  2. Whoop whoop!!!! Kind of falls into line with a couple of the others here who have had unconfirmed BW's of 20-23...... Mine was unconfimed BW 23 so I guess it will be built around then. Had to do the old 'remove/re-add vehicle' to force the tracker change. 🎉🤩🥳

  4. I recall mention in some previous chat that people had seen keys featured in videos that did not have an R on them, whilst some keys did. When I got mine I posted up a pic of my keys in my members ride thread. These are my keys.

    Golf R MK7 swaying.

Update: Fixed! forgot to update this just in case someone else has the same problems. I replaced rear coils and car was still swaying. I was annoyed with replacing parts so I bought a rear axle with the arms on it that I needed such as upper arm and trailing arm etc. Got it aligned with new rear axle and no more swaying. All fixed.

  6. Sorry for the lack of updates everyone. Each time I install the plugin, it screws up our cache. Just waiting for some proper time to look at this. We will get it fixed, but please bear with me.

  12. Absolutely! I didn't mention that out of respect for those who thought that chucking hundreds of <currency units> at their car would in some mythical way improve it. Originally I also swapped my 'silver' caps for eBay gloss black. Eventually I just had to go for body colour. Owing to a misunderstanding, my dealer replaced a not-solid-silver plastic cap and charged me about £160 just for one part. This was quickly sorted and he told me that many Golf owners wanted the 'R experience' and were buying the genuine caps to fit to their cheapo models. VW either took exception to thi

Yes mate they must have as yours changed last week didnt it, so I was expecting to wait at least 2 more weeks before a change. I will contact chat tomorrow morning. I have emailed James at Medway too. Hes always very helpful.

    ACC and speed signs

No - I was going to book it in after lockdown as I’ve not used it a lot and I hadn’t really pinpointed the issue, wether it was me, or possibly bends it was slowing for etc and I couldn’t recreate it easily. Weirdly it was worse In acc mode but then in travel assist mode it wouldn’t do it. 150 miles across country yesterday and it was brilliant , 150 back today and the bug came back and it was a nightmare. I had 110 limit signs on the dash, every time it saw a speed sign it broke down to the mph equivalent. As soon as I restarted it it was fine. Will be booking it In to

    Voice Control?

I’ve used it a handful of times in my mk8 just to test it out but it worked well on the occasions I did try it. You can either launch it completely hands free by simply saying “hello volkswagen” and then giving a command, or press the voice button on the right hand steering wheel control to launch it and then give commands. As with all these voice things there’s key phrases that work best and there are tips in the infotainment guide as to what to say. I’ve used it for nav request, controlling aircon, phone calls and all worked. It’s still much quicker to do these things using hand controls

    Juddery wipers

I'd recommend getting the Bosch A864S Aerotwin Wiperblade Set, 650/450 mm & Bosch Wiper Blade Rear A282H

    Juddery wipers

I’d give the windscreen a very good clean first and clay it too if you can. Plus clean the blades. Then if they are still juddering replace the blades with a decent brand. Bosch aerotwins (A864S for front, A282H rear) are a good choice but there are others. Usually cheapest on Amazon Front https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bosch-A864S-Aerotwin-Wiperblade-Set/dp/B00W1KKYUI Rear https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bosch-A282H-Rear-Blade-Single/dp/B0042ETBEQ Some also rate PIAA wiper blades too.

  35. Being aware of the trades descriptions act, perhaps plastic brushed-silver-coloured mirror caps? It does seem that a fair number seem to believe that they are actually metal. At £160-ish each they should be solid unobtanium. Checking the prices from Oct.19 when I bought my car, the silver were 'free', gloss black were an extra £75, while the 'super light high tech' CF were an extra £475. So if you price in the silver at 2x £160, my eBay gloss black at £18 were a serious bargain. VW must take us for mugs.

    Mrk 7 Clutch Replacement

My clutch went at 20,000 miles and I went with a RTS dual clutch and Luk slave cylinder, which has been great . It was £530 plus £65 for the slave and fitting was around £650. Had it done at VW specialists Volks in Feb this year, which are in Sutton, London borough of Sutton and they are good. I also asked to them to check the DM flywheel which was in good condition, so left the original in. ( my car is stock ) If your thinking of mapping or it’s already mapped it’s worth getting the flywheel changed as well whilst the gearbox is out. Go for a single mass flywheel, which can handle the e
