  3. Browsing Facebook marketplace this morning and came across a Mars Red Mk1 Golf Gti for sale and thought I recognised it. Seeing the VRN confirmed that it was the one I had back in the early 2000's. I did not think in a million years it would still be around! Great to see it again and its for sale just up the road from me in Wrexham, so I have messaged the seller to see if I can pop up and see it again. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/4129283190484644/?ref=search&referral_code=marketplace_search&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3Af885

  4. Just bought this 8 week bundle of fun home. For someone that has just been ripped away from his family and everything he's ever known, he is a rather confident little bugger.

  8. Yup. My R will be the cheapest thing in there (except for some Teslas maybe :-)) I'm pretty sure you can ask them to take pics during the work. Class A do it anyway, for their own publicity. So I'll probably have a 'book' :-)) See link to their FB page https://www.facebook.com/Class.A.Workshop Let me know if it's OK to put the link here (otherwise I'll delete it). Not promoting them, since no member lives anywhere near :-))

  10. Yeh they are the same seats that were in it when I had it. Retrimmed and fitted by the owner before me. They were pretty uncomfortable to be honest. Not great I agree. It was riddled with issues to, Water pipes kept splitting and coming off, emptying its contents everywhere and overheating very quickly. This happened on several occasions and usually in the most inconvenient situation. Those HT leads look to be the same ones I fitted myself! My god did it shift though, it was 280bhp and before I bought it the previous owner ran it with nitrous too. However, the fuel bi

  15. So finally plucked up the courage to finish my little project today - touching up, wet sanding and refinishing my bonnet to remove stone chips. It’s far from perfect and I haven’t done all of them, but I’m pretty impressed with the results so far and the Koch Chemie Heavy Cut polish is INCREDIBLY good! In other news, ECS flatly refused to supply a single replacement bumper flare, stating that “they

  16. Unfortunately that’s the reality. Not like the police interceptors on TV where the minute they get a call they are all speeding there in high powered unmarked cars. Had an incident a couple of weeks back when I saw three scooters and a nicked bike heading down an alley near me. Obvious it was nicked as all scooters had no plates and chavs with no helmets, just hoodies and bandanas. Called 999 and after 5 minutes asking them to send a car ASAP as they were stripping the bike I gave up. Bet this mob are doing this daily. I couldn’t get involved as there were six of them, most li

  17. Luckily saw someone on a Facebook group who had a few of these to sell. Obviously not going to be as top quality as the official VW ones but it fits perfectly. Can't complain when he was charging £7 delivered and then PayPal gave me £5 for completing the transaction, a nice £2 buy. Saved quite a bit on this one. Not exciting pictures but thought I'd put them on in case anyone can use the code on the box to try and find the item if they want to buy.

  18. Thanks for you’re kind words Booth . Didn’t help the wife is currently 37 weeks pregnant so she really didn’t need the emotional impact on her certainly at this time . You live and learn . Don’t wait for an incident to happen before upgrading house security especially at the minute with used golf R prices going through the roof .

  19. I fitted the 3 star locks after an attempted break in a few years ago and everyone should do this if they have those style of locks, I've also got door sensors and motion sensor lights front and back. Also I have Ring cams at the front and back and only this week I bought some of the Eufy cameras as they were on offer so I have them front and back too. Whilst they act as a great way to be notified of potential intruders they obviously won't stop a determined thief as if they really want they car they can smash a window and take the keys by force, what the cameras do though is enable you to mak

  20. Sorry to hear. Hope the upgrades to your security will deter the criminals. Best form of deterrence would harsher sentences including Penal Labour. We no longer have a justice system in "modern" society.

They haven't really made an attractive Type R for years. I owned the 7th gen bread van style from new in 2001. It was ugly. Shame.the Integra wasn't available in the UK. It was fun but hard work to drive. I don't know what the engines are like nowadays but back then the vtech power kicked in around 7400 rpm and hit the limiter around 8500 rpm. You needed to be really focused to keep it in the power band. The Accord Type R I owned before was marginally easier. Neither were as easy to enjoy as the WRX, MkV GTI, and R32 I owned after. The R32 and WRX were also fantastic for getting up the hill to

  23. Another bedmate for VWR - a Ferrari FF, supposedly a four-seater, but only for four year-olds. Oddly similar to a stretched Reliant Scimitar, Ferrari's answer to a hatchback which didn't prove popular with prancing horse fans. Frankly I much prefer the one parked next door to it. (btw, the hotel is Pale Hall.)

  24. Got this done today. Picked up the correct ball pin from VW but mine takes an M8 nut not an M10. 🤷‍♀️ Used an M10 washer though as bigger which is needed to ensure it doesn’t fall through the hole in the bonnet. Didn’t completely remove the bonnet insulation to do the job, as just enlisted other half to hold it back sufficiently, whilst I did the washer and nut work. It creased it slightly so if you want to avoid that I’d advise you to follow mahalo’s advice on removing it completely. No big deal though. Getting the washer and nut securely on the inside of the bonnet ready to screw the b

I disagree! You see staid, I see a very handsome hatch parked next to one with unnecessary overstyling! but I bet my 19 year old son would agree with you…. 😉 😆 Should have taken the picture form the front as I’d have more people on my side!

  27. Do the rear ARB, either 22mm on the hard setting or 24mm on the soft setting. This obviously applies to most main brands i.e. Superpro, 034 Motorsport’s or any other mainstream suppliers. I personally have a 22mm Superpro set on the hard setting and it’s great.

  28. I've been collecting data logs that others post to try and get a picture for how the different products compare. During a single gear pull they all look close to me. http://www.mygolfmk7.com/mk7-gti-r-intercooler-comparison/ I've also done some logging of my own using the stock GTI IC, with the addition of an eBay FMIC, FMIC only, stock replaced with APR IC, APR + FMIC, and with a Unitronic. I haven't gathered enough information to say confidently how one setup compares with another, but what I've recorded thus far does not have striking differences between 'upgrade' options
