  2. After 6.5yrs, the road from purchasing a brand new bog standard Golf R to full on road car is now complete, those here long enough will recall all the ups and downs, probably more downs in fairness. Made 744.3PS & 778.3Nm which converted is near as makes no difference 735bhp & 575lb/ft on E85. Next stop Santa Pod to get some performance data in relative safety before the season closes next weekend, hardly been at an event in recent years. Will it finally return a 9sec 1/4mile in full street trim at over 140mph, the million dollar question. Normally "road cars" going for 9's, don't think theirs many mind and definitely not R's will be totally gutted of the interior, drag wheels you name it so to do it fully loaded really is night and day harder, watch this space. 6. I have full Wavetrac LSD setup front and rear. The XDS+ was necessary to deactivate completely. I almost cooked my brakes and clutch before I understood all... [emoji4] [emoji106] Merry Christmas... Sent fra min SM-G998B via Tapatalk

  10. I have been experimenting lately with the voice command thing and Walter (my current name, though he used to be Waltraud. After the last 'upgrade' he/she/it changed sex. Quite trendy really, though I still miss Waltraud.) Anyway, Walter (pronounced Valter of course) will select individual radio stations and also change the heating without demur. I also have music on a USB stick and Valter will play individual tracks when asked. I'm also experimenting with navigation . . I'm currently in Tromso when I asked Valter to take me to Bromsgrove. Using Valter means you don't have to pull into a lay-by every time you need to do something. Can't see this totally bonkers system lasting to the Mk9.

  11. Well I'm fuming. Car arrived into the UK on 2nd December, and between then and yesterday there have been lots of talks between the lease finance company and Volkswagen over the price of the vehicle as due to the length of time since the finance company placed order the discount VW gave them has dropped off. Finally got a registration through yesterday morning, only to be told an hour later that I had to have another credit check (previous one was in April this year) and it's now been declined. In May I changed jobs and now earn an extra £7k a year so I cannot fathom why. I have appealed the decision but I can't help but think they're lying to me regarding credit (my score is excellent at 974 out of 999 - never ever missed a payment) and are trying to wriggle out of the lease because at £370 a month including maintenance it is now just too good a deal for them to honour. If it still comes back a no I'm not sure what I'm going to do, sold my fully loaded 2021 M135i for the golf (which will be 20% cheaper a month to me), something I never would have done if I'd know they were going to mess me around like this. Now the cost of cars and finance is extortionate, my BMW was on 2.9%, so I'm never going to get anywhere near a similar car for sub £400! 😡
