  1. I would like to bump this thread up with an update from KW. 1- The frustration continues, KW does not want to own up to its mistake, they are claiming that the ride height was set too high which has damaged the first set of springs in the first place, this is total bull$hit as the ride height was set within the recommended setting at the time of install and never adjusted further, the car was dropped by around 25mm all around. 2- They are also claiming that the top mount was not installed correctly (based on absolutely no photos or whatsoever), despite the fact that I have personally ensured that this was done correctly at the time of install and I’m sure it was correct and as per KW’s installation manual. 3- They want to send me another set of stiffer springs for front only (regardless of how that’s gonna affect the handling), while still insisting that they believe that the original set which was softer was not defective! I have asked if they believe the original set was fine in terms of spring rate, WHY ARE THEY SENDING A STIFFER ONE? KW simply does not want to own up to the fact that their system does not work and will continue arguing otherwise, this is what kind of customer service KW offers!! PS – Photo of my car with the KW’s on, as per KW, they believe this is too high to the point where it’s going to damage the springs J
  2. I would highly appreciate a detailed review on the Ohlins as i cant find any reviews at the moment, pictures, impressions, long drive review would be amazing on this kit so Cant wait for your feedback as im considering the Ohlins but dont want to buy another expensive kit that does not have solid reviews.
  3. Yup, literally hated the guts of my R for the last 3 months, enjoyed so much driving it since i installed the stock ones back yesterday, completely different car in the way the steering feels and how it behaves on the limit.
  4. B16 seem to be the best option but i cant find any links to solid reviews!
  5. Hello Everyone, I would like to share my feedback on the KW DDC coilovers for the MK7 R so everyone could be aware before putting an order on these. My car is a 2015 LSG MK7 R / DSG/DCC, few mods that are a set of VWR BBK as i do some track days, 034 Motorsport dogbone insert, JB1, VWR R600. I was looking for a good set of coilovers that would fit the purpose of both road and occasional track use, I generally loved the stock suspension of the MK7 R both in track and on the road, managed to post some super fast laps in Dubai Autodrome and Yas Marina, most of the time giving Porsche GT4's a run for their money. My Main purpose was to keep the DCC function so the car can remain comfy, lower the car a little for better looks and I thought any improvement on stock suspension would be welcome. (most springs in the market can only do one of those 3 things IMO, which is why i went the expensive way) Made an order on these expensive coilovers a few months back, installation was nice and simple, first drive impressions, wow, forgot that the car was actually in race mode, it was very slightly harsher than stock on the road, turn in and handling initially felt better but i was nowhere near the limit. Photo of them installed and the ride height: https://ibb.co/eJdRJv The next day, I went to a nice stretch of empty roads to test the handling, and that is where problems have started. First off, the handling was improved, however the behaviour of the car at the limit was not good at all, a lot of understeer that did not transfer into a lift off oversteer unless you were going very fast, stock suspension feels more neutral front to back but that was not even the real problem. The real problem was when i started hearing massive clunking noises everytime I hit a slight road imperfection, or take a corner a bit faster than usual, upon further inspection, all front springs were massively binding against each other, and in ;ess than 300 kms only, the protective coating on the springs was wearing off (See photos). https://ibb.co/d7V6Jv https://ibb.co/ft845a https://ibb.co/bS7xQa I emailed KW about this issue, after going back and forth with loads of emails (one of the emails, I was advised that this suspension is not suitable to be used for track days!!!!!!!! see screenshot), I was asked to take loads of measurements for them to determine the issue, a few weeks, turned into a couple of months chasing KW for a solution to my problem, roughly 2-3 months down the line, I receive revised springs for the front only, the new springs had different part numbers. https://ibb.co/nxkj5a I was happy to receive the new springs as i thought this would solve my issues, and i can enjoy the car again, went and paid for installation of new springs again, drove very well for the first few hours, no knocking noise anymore, handling improved massively with less understeer and a tail that was happier than ever, i thought the nightmare was finally over, to my surprise, the springs collapsed again once i drove over the next slight road imperfection and been knocking at any bump / turn since then as the front springs completely collapsed under normal pressure. https://ibb.co/cwRDyv Bottom line of the story, you pay for a +3k $$$ worth of suspension, you pay install charges 3 times (because you have been use as KW's test pig), and then you get told that these should not be run on track. I got so sick of this that I put my stock suspension back on because i cannot drive my car anymore the way it is. Ive emailed KW on this subject yesterday, I'm hoping that KW would be decent enough to admit their mess on this suspension kit and refund my money, however I'm sure this will take weeks and weeks and the only victim here in the customer who paid +3K $ and installation charges 3 times (first time, second time, then back to stock). For the record, there are a few others running the same suspension with similar issue so please beware before you order a KW DDC kit. Please read carefully before ordering such kits, KW must resolve this issue as this is one of the worst experiences ever. Regards,
  6. Great stuff on the car What's your input on the dogbone inserts? any added vibrations inside the cabin?
  7. Hello Guys, Im not sure if on here someone might have experienced something similar, but I have noticed a fair amount of oil right under the intake and around the DSG cooler etc. It also seems to be coming out with a bit of pressure as it has completely splashed the brake booster, brake fluid reservoir and on top of the DSG oil cooler, however the car drives completely normal, all oil levels are perfect, oil temp seems just right as well. The car has a VWR intake, when i noticed this, the small breather pipe was off but that's all! Photos can be seen below, I would appreciate if someone can shed some light, it will be with the dealer in the next couple of days but i'll probably sleep better if i know what could this be!
  8. Hey Guys, So with all the positive feedback on the DTUK pedal box, I have decided to order one myself despite the fact that I don’t really believe in pedal boxes and I myself have recommended a friends against a sprint booster (similar to pedalbox) just a few months back. I have to say, Andrew was extremely supportive in this process, his feedback and customer support are honestly second to none! This was ordered on Monday 17th November, and at my door step in Dubai on 19th!!!! That is the quickest car part I have ever received. Installation: The box comes with clear instructions; it literally took me less than 5 minutes without any tools whatsoever, it is very straight forward. Feedback: Pulling out of the parking, the engine oil was still cold, I usually drive around for at least 5-10 mins till engine oil temps go up to 80-90 before I start pushing, and I have to say I was worried that the car would be jerky / jumpy on every throttle input and it felt absolutely normal! Start pushing it around a little bit and the response is amazing, it’s immediate! There is absolutely no throttle lag whatsoever! I have been driving manual cars for a while and the R is my first proper DSG car and I was slightly disappointed with the response under some throttle loads. I do a serious amount of Auto Cross in Dubai (and the R is great for that, my Lap times are matching some serious track monsters) and I struggled to get the response I want out of the corners like I could in the manual I had in my Cupra, and this was the main reason for buying the Pedal box. The feedback so far is amazing, driving the car for a few trips around, it just responds so well, try using the box for a while and then switch it off and or decrease the setting and you could really feel the difference. I have tried different settings and I like Sport as it retains the OEM throttle input in normal driving and the response is great under heavier throttle loads for overtaking! I will try timing the car from 0-100 without using launch control and with the box on / off to see if could make any difference, however this would be completely irrelevant the box is great as is and highly recommended. Will write some further feedback with more mileage on this box. Cheers.
  9. update: Dealer took the car in, called to check what fuel I have used, once that was out of the way, they were investigating further. Just got a call from them to say that they have detected misfire in cylinder 02, they sent the Diagnoses to VW as they can't work out if it is wiring or a bad ignition coil. I'm not really convinced with their diagnoses and I'm hoping that VW has something else to say when they receive the logs! I have a huge suspicion that this is related to the famous hesitation that a lot of MK7 R's are facing at around 2500 - 2700 RPM, as it happened in all occasions that the misfire happened at the same RPM.
  10. I always fill up with the best quality fuel available in Dubai which is RON98. the car is stock with just above 3000 kms. Yea, I'm afraid the car will be fine once it goes to the dealer, they will not find any errors with it, reset the software and give it back
  11. Hey Guys, Was driving the R today, and as i started accelerating (no more than 15% throttle) the car had a major hesitation / Misfire as you could hear the exhaust as if your on launch control and the EPC light came on, this happened for just over 2 seconds and then felt a little bit underpowered. I was a few mins away from home so i parked, restarted the car and no more EPC light, drove the car back, and felt very normal.. drove it hard and felt just as quick as it would always feel.. thing is, this is not the first time the hesitation happened, when i told my wife she mentioned that this happened when she drove my car once, she thought its normal (she drives a Fiat 500 and these things are normal in that). it seems to happen at very light throttle only. Did a check with VCDS and it says under Engine: Unknown Error. has anybody experienced EPC with hesitation / Misfire? car will be going to the dealer tomorrow anyways.
  12. Not really sure which Downpipe they are using, i wil be heading there next weekend to have a look and possibly tune if i had my mind set.. heres a photo they posted from their Stage 02 R. Have a look at the cars they are doing, some seriously exotic stuff there.. https://www.facebook.com/simonmotorsportdxb?fref=ts
  13. Hello Guys, I'm going for a stage 01 tune but currently in a bit of a confusion, there's a local garage here called Simon Motorsport, very knowledgeable guy and deals with a lot of high end supercars. They are offering a Stage 01 tune for the R and the numbers on their dyno (Maha Dyno) are 362-372 BHP, dyno runs are included in the process.. their stage 02 package is 398 BHP. The confusion is, should i go for this or should i just stick with the Revo Stage 01 tune? Revo Stage 01 tune will be just an off the shelf tune developed in the UK and will be flashed to my car, no Dyno runs included, go get it dyno'd somewhere else.. What do you guys think of the Maha dyno figures? and which tune should i go for? to me it looks like the Simon Motorsport tune is the more attractive option considering its proven numbers on their dyno. Here are 2 photos from their page:
