  1. Exactly the same thing happened to me last year. I actually didn't replace the plate holder, and instead stuck the plate straight to the bumper. It looks far better that way IMO.
  2. I'm exited for someone to take one of these deals - shame I can't! In real terms, I think these 4C deals are matching the value of the 2014 Golf R deals. It's so much car for the money - about 20% of the RRP for 2 years motoring - you never, ever see thoroughbred sports cars at that price point. Presently encouraging my dad to sign up for one
  3. Yep, think they've got it right with this one. RWD with the ZF8 box, 280bhp, shouldn't be far behind the R for performance. The option which I'll obviously peddle is going for an M140i - good value PCP's on those. Appreciate a bit of a marmite car though!
  4. Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce ?

    Juke

Oh god no. I had a Juke for two long years before the Golf R. It was the best one you could get (Nismo aside) and had a 190bhp 1.6, so should have been nippy-ish, but was horribly slow. I've never known a car to be so ineffective at getting its power down - there's a hilarious video out there of someone trying to get close to its 8 second claimed 0-60 time. It's basically a Nissan Micra on bumped up suspension, so handles like a pig too. Now if I am ever making a decision that my partner disagrees with, she just has to remind me of the Juke
  6. I went to a M135i. Thoroughly recommended - driving it is a bit more of an (sometimes scary) occasion
  7. Had someone in a 3.0L version of this race me when first got the Golf. I lost due to lack of interest, but can say based on my sample size of one that S Type drivers are chumps

Are you going to PPV mate? Might have to Kodi this, not sure Joshua v Molina is worth the £ ! Really hoping that Whyte wins. Chisora is a clown.
  9. Haha, this stuff really is terrible. It does amuse me when you see someone wearing a Porsche fleece or the like in a supermarket. Okay mate, we get it, you want people to know you drive a Porsche...
  10. This was kind of my thinking behind going for the M135i. We're eking out the days of many-cylinder engines and wanted to take the chance before it's too late / too expensive! I think I'll get a Fiat 500 TwinAir after this. Two cylinders and it sounds great
  11. Alloys - as others have said, the VWFS charge matrix for the wheels is dead cheap, at £36 for diamond cuts. Mine went back 3 weeks ago and I had two curbed alloys, one pretty bad (about 6 inches long around the tyre edge, plus a scuff extending onto the 'spoke' of the alloy). Passed the BCA inspection with flying colours, but may have just had a very lenient / nice bloke doing the inspection! As said though, worth just chancing it with the alloys due to the low repair charge.

    The Grand Tour

Hmmm, think they missed a trick not having a serious driver lapping and testing the cars. Could've brought a bit of sobriety to things and entertained people who are actually into cars, hearing what an expert thinks. The American dude just continues the feel it's a 60 minute long unfunny joke. Also, I reckon the Amazon bucks have got them carried away. What made TG great was the 'little England' side to it - naff tests of Reliant Robins and £3k rear wheel sports cars made it feel relatable. It's all too Hollywood and smug now. Having said all this, I'll probably still watch it all!
  13. I think I might be completely alone in this, but for me the A45 is way too 'barky'. It sounds like a medium-sized dog yelping because it's trod on a thorn. Sure you can engineer a 4-pot to sound like that, and it's certainly loud, but I'd rather my car sound like the R.
  14. Yeah, it takes some... err... adjusting to
