  1. Thinking of parting with my 7R Estate! Really wasn't expecting this to happen so soon as I only took delivery on March 18th and it's such an awesome car, but I have seen and desperately want a Gardner Douglas MK3 AC Cobra and the only way I can justify is if I sell the golf. I've been offered a good trade in but thought I'd offer it on here although I guess most already own one! As I wasn't expecting to sell I have modified with APR stage 1 and DSG tune, revo carbon intake, TT inlet pipe and GFB DV+. ATS 19" black racelight wheels with Continental SC6 and carbon wing mirror caps. Can return to original spec if required. Basic spec is Estate DSG Nav Pro DCC Rear camera Climate screen Advanced telephone High beam assist 1300 miles and immaculate (when clean) would like £32k If anyone is interested please message me Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
  2. I'm using a Swann pro-series HD which fulfils all your requirements. Although in play back it just highlights when motion is detected, don't know about programmable areas as each camera has a fairly narrow field of view so I set up two to cover the front. Idiot proof as well, which is what I needed! Maplin had some good deals on when I bought mine. The mobile app is pretty cool as well. Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
  3. Yes, they are the wingbar ones..very easy to fit, simple and solid! Once you've got them set up the right width for the bike rack which is a bit fiddly, it literally takes seconds to take off and on again.. Very good bit of kit! Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
  4. I went for the thule low profile bars and they are silent... No wind noise at all until l put the bike carrier on which you would expect. They cost about the same as the vw ones Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
  5. Not sure car net is that great anyway. I use android auto, which I find the most usable if not a little limited ..I'm sure with updates it will improve. Mrs W is already sizing them up! think I'd better get another order in. Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
  6. Why thank you ...it's its first proper clean since picking it up 3 weeks ago. It does satisfy my obsessive streak! Although, I would not have accepted the dealer offer of the ceramic coating if I had a bit more understanding, especially as it had been applied over glue from the transport tape. Still, not too much trouble to clean it off and it is the only tiny downside to what has been a very positive experience from ordering to collecting. I seem to be lucky from what I read as I have a niggle free car, every thing is exactly as I had expected...even Car-Net worked first time!! should I have said that out loud? As it has a non organic treatment I have decided to keep it that way and have topped it up with C2V3 which in my limited experience seems great. Very silky My wife did question the amount of Micro Fiber towels that arrived in the week...I tried explaining but she kind of glazed over
  7. That didn't work so well... Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
  8. Well, I never thought i'd enjoy cleaning a car this much! Having previously thought it was just a bit weird to spend your Sunday cleaning a car when there are so many other ways to enjoy the weekend.....I can now confirm that it is actually the PERFECT way to spend a Sunday/whatever day you may choose. I'm definitely a learner when it comes to this but all the info on here is excellent and has taken a lot of guess work and trial and error out of the equation, so thanks to all for that. I am a convert and my pockets are that much lighter to prove it!! Sorry about the poor photography https://www.flickr.com/photos/141000794@N03/albums/72157666987308595
  9. I can fully understand that...the JB1 definitely looks the best of the tuning boxes. I always looked at going stage 2 when choosing the car and will be discussing just down-pipe vs full exhaust and inter-cooler tomorrow when I'm at S-line. I've already fitted the Revo carbon intake and panel filter, GFB DV+ and TT inlet hose and the DTUK peddle box. It's a while since I've tinkered around with cars and I'd forgotten how much fun it is!
  10. Hi, it was surprisingly easy..the difficult bit was taking the mirror glass out as you need to apply quite a bit of force to pull them off the fixing clips and being glass the feeling is they might crack. As long as you get your fingers around onto the plastic backing and not right on the edge of the glass you will be OK. Once the glass is out there are only two clips holding the caps in place. Depress those with a flat head screwdriver etc and the covers just pull off. There are a couple of YouTube videos out there to help. Hope that helps... Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
  11. I'll let you know how I get on... Are you planning some changes?
  12. James at S-line told me that APR have unlocked the latest Ecu's... I'll find out tomorrow I guess..
  13. I'm using S-line automotive and an ARP tune. From what I understand the DSG tune now increases clamping force on the clutch helping with any potential clutch slip from the increased forces. I will try and do an update once it's done and I've had a chance to get used to it.
  14. I nearly speced it but had to draw the line somewhere as the extras started mounting up big time ! Fantastic car... I'm getting stage 1 and DSG tune on Saturday...got to love a fast estate
  15. It is a gamble I know ... The dynaudio is going to be superior as it uses uprated speakers etc..Unfortunately I'd left it too late to add to my order otherwise would have gone with the dynaudio. To be honest at the moment I spend most of the time with the sound off so I can listen to the engine rev and the DSG gear change.. Very addictive
  16. Yes, apparently they do two types. One sits in the spare wheel well the other sits in the boot space. Chose the one that sits in the wheel well as its less intrusive...I've only ever used a spare wheel twice in 30+ years of motoring so wasn't too concerned about losing it. I bought a good tyre inflator and tyreweld in case!. You get to keep the spare wheel, you just need to find somewhere to store it.
  17. It's a dealer fit accessory.. Was about £500
  18. I went for the plug and play and have to say I'm very pleased. It fully integrates with the head unit and separates the high, mid and base really well. The speakers are actually quite good if you have the amp to split the sound.
  19. I ended up getting my covers sprayed vw black by a local body shop for £20 each side. I originally bought the eBay ones but the finish of the moulding wasn't great. They fitted perfectly but covers hadn't been fettled so the seems still showed...paint was good though. When you compare them to the originals they just don't hold up.
  20. Great write up..good to hear your positive feedback on the DSG tune. I am booked in for stage 1 and DSG tune on the 8th at another tuners so hope I have as good an experience.
  21. The dealership I used ended up matching the drive the deal price bar a couple of hundred quid so went with them as they're local. JCB Ashford were utter rubbish
  22. I'm not sure why he said not to worry about running in.. I'm definitely taking it easy but surely the odd burst won't hurt? Problem being it's very addictive.
  23. I went to Eurocanterbury.... Got to say the service was superb. When we did the handover my sales guy told me not to worry about running in.... I'm taking it easy but have still floored it a few times
  24. Yes, it's limestone grey.. Definitely the best colour for me! Nothing wrong with the wheels I just really fancy dark grey light weight ones and not so keen on the Pretorias. Hence going for FFR1 in carbon graphite. Mine took less than 5 weeks to arrive at the dealers once the build was underway.
  25. Finally picked mine up at the weekend... Should have been Tuesday but got tied (not literally) up at work so a difficult few days wait until Saturday afternoon! Absolutely love it :-D Just waiting for the Ispiri FFR1 wheels to arrive DNS pro USB connection problems the only slight down side.
