Spoke to Admiral last night to change my insurance with the JB1 box on. They asked what sort of power gains does it provide in % up to 10% is an extra £40 a year Up to 20% is an extra £200 per year! Do I go with the figures quoted on Burger's website of 370bhp and say 20%? Or to get it cheaper say up to 10%?

I had mine wrapped at the weekend, 60 quid for the pair. Easily removable too

You need to download the JB4 app from the respective app store then buy an OTG cable to connect it up

Chances are if you have the reverse camera then you'll be able to get App Connect. Apparently if you spec this option you're given the 'newer' head unit

I've heard that some OTG connectors aren't suitable. I would use the laptop if I was you to make sure it's working then try with a different OTG connector afterwards Does it show as connected?

I did it saturday morning, bit of a thinking outside the box job in all honesty. I ddin't feel comfortable having the car right above my head with the jack holding it up so made like a ramp with patio flags on the right hand wheel which worked well and parked it up there so I could get underneath. Probably took me about an hour, but not because it was tricky but because I followed the instructions to the letter. It's a case of letting the car cool down and the ECU to switch off (5-10 minutes), taking the engine cover off, plugging in 3 plugs there. The trickiest bit was the plug underneath but when you know what you're looking for it's a doddle. Connected it up to my mac with the JB4 software and then changed the boost pressure to 5.0 on Map 1. Started the car up and away we go.

I'ts mental mate, you'll love it. One word of advice, it does put extra strain on the engine to I'd perhaps fit it, set it to map 0 (stock) and run it in for a couple of hundred miles before you smash it round. I'd hit my 1000 on Saturday morning so felt safe installing it

Had this delivered on Friday from The Performance centre in Sunderland with the data cable. Fitted Friday morning with relative ease and set to Map 1 running 5.0 boost All I can say is Oh My God. If you haven't got one of these then you're seriously missing out, it transforms the car If anyone has any questions just let me know and I'd be happy to help, fitting etc.

Saturday morning on a dual carriageway, 65 plate M5, neck and neck up to about 70 then it was like an explosion and he disappeared verrrry quickly. He must have done 140 at peak, I wasn't losing my license over it! Lovely sound

Morning All, so my JB1 is on order, hopefully it should be here this week. My question is for a car running stock, what are the best settings for optimum acceleration. I've read online Map 1 set to 5.2 should be doable running Shell V Power which I think is rated at 99RON. Would Map 6 be preferred if there are any modifications (which there aren't). Any help greatly appreciated, can't wait to get it on now!

Right as mentioned previously and now experiencing it first hand. I was assured 1000000% by both VW head office and the dealership that the App Connect retrofit was possible on my vehicle (build date 23/11/2015 without reverse camera). For anyone who has the following set up MIB2 headunit with mute bottom left and no app-connect option in the menu................... IT IS IMPOSSIBLE (unless you can persuade VW to offer you a full replacement headunit swap) Thanks

Skip, do you find when you crank it up the normal speakers start to struggle?

100% worth it IMO, bass is awesome. It does distort when you crank it up but it adds so much to music

Definitely, I would never let anyone say a bad word about my GT86, it does what it says on the tin, getting the back end out turning into my drive always put a smile on my face. That said I've realised now that raw power and grip are much more important to me than drifting! Oh and the ability to actually use the rear seats!

I have the MIBii so not sure about the original? Mine sounds fine up to a certain level but then distorts after that, perhaps with the standard speakers it affects it?

I've been told that what the dealer gets with the aftermarket installation is a USB drive with the specific equalizer settings for the System, either in 3 door or 5 door format. I had mine installed last week before I got the car and made sure they did this. It does distort slightly when you smash the volume up but with reason it's absolutely fine.

Picked my Golf up at 7:00am on Tuesday from VW in Altrincham, had it detailed and protected by my mate on Monday using Carbon Collective''s Platinum paint, glass and wheels and looks amazing, it shone like a diamond when I went to pick it up from the Handover Bay. I went for Lapiz Blue, 5 Door DSG with the 19" prets and Plug and play sound installation. Still waiting for App Connect to be fitted but mine doesn't have the option so I'm not holding out any hopes they can do it! All I can say is what a machine, the best car I've ever driven, I thought my GT86 was lovely to drive but this feels well-built, safe and stick in race mode and you're at 70 before you even know it with your head planted firmly in the headrest. The 4 wheel drive system is delightful and feels glued to the road. I was always a bit scared driving the Toyota especially in the wet at 60mph on the M6 at night in case the back end kicked out!! It's surpassed all my expectations and pound for pound I'd say one of the best cars available on the market at the moment, extremely happy with my purchase and here's to more driving pleasure in the future!!
