  2. I must have a different Golf R. I have a 2016 DPB 5 door, keyless, leather, DCC, ETC ETC but specifically requested NO panoramic sun roof as I think it’s superfluous with the decent ac in the car. Maybe that’s the key to enhancing the feeling of solidity and for sure rigidity. To my senses the car is rock solid, planted on Michelin tyres and after three years it still feels super taut and like living inside a Rolex watch. It’s a keeper for me until I “ upgrade” to an electric hairdryer ( E Golf or ID!) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. I think the latest oils are up to it. The R is as safe as houses, sure you can’t even “ rev it up” like you used to at rest. The car won’t rev beyond 4,000 if you want to do a launch and the rev limiter cuts in at around 6,500 rpm. There are so many safety features I really don’t think there are any impending issues. Just make sure you have enough money for the oil! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Feckit! They’re coming..... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Yes I have. After two years. Becs has as well I think. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Don’t know but you can get cool ones on e bay. Just make sure you have the correct i.d. ( as in internal diameter). Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. Hate that.... I’m bleeding for you. It’s practically impossible to avoid. If you don’t park close to the curb then somebody will graze your exposed side. I have learned, but often forget, that the only way to avoid this happening when you park is to ALWAYS reverse in to the parking space while using the dipped mirror function ( keep the mirror knob on L) to avoid scraping the RLHS wheel and then - VERY IMPORTANT- keep the lock deliberately on hard and the front LHS tyre will “bump in” and on to the curb stone safely- not the rim- and then move forward a gnats to come off the curb at the front while straightening. Top Tip! Try it next time. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. Brilliant! I finally have 4 Michelin SP4s on my car. You might recall that I bought two for the back to replace the 26k Conti5Ps. Then after a couple of weeks I had a puncture at speed on motorway on the way to catch a flight and after checking I elected to run flat at 50 mph and get my flight. Well I finally ordered 3 Tyres and had them fitted. I’m sure the dealer must think I have a race prepped Reliant Robin! I was concerned about the 71dB noise level but tbh they sound quieter than the worn Contis... I’ll keep you posted. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Very helpful / informative video on the Haldex System. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. It was teeming rain here today so I went hooring around the place in Sport with the traction control/ all assists off to see if I could make the R behave like a Mk1 Gti. Impossible. I noticed that the DSG gear change from 1>2 and 2>3 is particularly savage on the ‘box when the TC is off. Grip is immense. Even after 3 yrs and 26kmiles I’m still in awe. Definitely keeping mine. It’s in terrific shape except it needs a wash and wax. That season is coming.... I was sorry to hear of Bec’s damage. ( exact same car/spec as mine I think). I got a stone chip on the screen passenger side last week when I hit a council meteorite storm ( salad /surface dressing as we call it here in IRL)and was annoyed enough at that. Got a 3yr ( final service)coming up. I’ll be mentioning the H for haldex word before I drop it in. So, what’s the verdict? I think at the 3 yr and 26,000 the Haldex should be serviced/ relubed. Agreed or not? Voting now open. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. It took me 6 months to settle in. Squat adjustment sorely missed- literally. Don’t forget the centre box. That lid slides forward and can be raised as an elbow rest at any level. That helps a lot. I’m 5’11” inside leg 30” (that’s an important parameter by the way!) I’m set now with the steering wheel at its lowest position to just see the indicator lights green- on the dash. Pity I can’t hear them when I’m in S or rough tarmac The mirror orange lights help. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Or a super 3D picture of you speeding.... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. Ouch Rebecca. I’m saving up for 2 x MPS4 s for the front too. They’re €210 each here. The original Conti 5P s have done 25,000 now. I’m obviously not doing enough launches...... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Hello Batch, I’d be keen to hear what you think of the ARB on the car. Mine has DCC on 19” but I’d be keen to reduce the lean a bit at the rear. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
