    Mk7 Golf R Order thread - part 2

I’m about to take up a new lease agreement to replace my r which goes back in February 2019. The cost has gone up considerably from the 2 year deal I’m coming out of. I’m am now looking at 350 a month on 3yrs 8k miles poverty spec . Is anybody with lease deals on order think this is the going rate - or has testing and halt in production pushed rates up? Tempted to sit it out for a few months and see if rates change - at the risk of being without a car come the end of my current term. Thanks all. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Tuning advice

Hi all. I need some advice on tuning my t5 van. I would have posted this in the tuning section but it is more of a general query rather than specific r tuning. My red R is mine - but to make sure the family still talk to me I have a t5 camper - which is fantastic. Driving it would be easier with a few more horses to pull it up hills especially when fully laden with all the weekend stuff the mrs thinks we ‘might’ need. It’s a van and it’s not going to be going fast - just looking to spend a few pennies to make it more useable. Do I need to go rolling road tuning - or is a plug in chip all I need. Van is 102hp and no warrantee to worry about. Thanks all. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Car has been built to the wrong spec!

I'm following with interest. My order was misbuilt with fault at the factory - being delivered a couple of doors short. This affected several cars in the same delivery. My options were walk away or 're-order'. Lease company apparently couldn't reorder at the same deal. This didn't seem correct legally, but I didn't look into it too much as I was not willing to wait another 8-10 weeks. I ended up with a fair discount from vw and took the 3 door. Others in the same delivery walked away where this compromise was unacceptable which is completely understandable. Keep us updated. Good luck.

Tell me manuals are good to drive

Each to their own Simon I went from ep3 civic to mk5 gti DSG. The DSG was novelty but not great but this was 10 years ago. After a few miserable Audi and Alfa experiences I now have a manual mk7. The forum is tending towads dsg but you should make your own mind up

So my pride a joy arrived as promised all shiny yesterday morning. Very friendly delivery man - car enthusiast of a number of years who had nothing but good things to say of the R - having delivered various types of cars almost every day. I covered a few rapid miles on country roads on Wednesday [emoji51]and several hours of motorway driving today. It is great how the car can do both jobs whilst putting a smile on your face. Lots to learn , I'm sure - loving it.[emoji106]

    GAP Insurance?

Thanks all. I've read through the link booth11 posted but not seen many queries on leasing issues. Do you need gap if leasing? Agent said not as they work on trade value and normal insurance will cover this in event of total loss. Interested in what others think?

Will do. Think there was some confusion initially at dealers but to be fair once I spoke to right person it was sorted very quickly. 4 sleeps to go! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Vw chat said it was at the dealers. Dealer said it wasn't - and that finance wasn't cleared. Few calls later all was well - should have asked how many doors were coming [emoji3]. Called lease company also to pressure for delivery.

Hi shi - that's a long wait. I would be asking NFS for ordering dates. 5 plus months with no information does not sound right. I am also leasing - my order was placed very end of September and build week was 03. I am hoping for delivery in the next few weeks.

Red. Had a red civic type r a lifetime ago and is only car I've ever had that the wife considered was a good choice!
