So headed on over to sunny Kent from cloudy Wales this morning to pick up my new Golf R. The 3 1/2 month wait has been excruciating but OMG it has been worth it. Had the luxury of a 200+ mile trip home to get used to the car - something I was a little worried over as my wife suffers from chronic back pain and I was convinced the roads and the firm(er to what she is used to in her Golf Estate) ride would cause problems. I needn't have worried at all; she said the seats are the most supportive and comfortable seats she has ever sat in. She actually got out of the car feeling quite refreshed. I hadn't actually driven an R before - I bought it off the back of how good I thought her car was (plus of course some extensive research) - but all I can say is that it has all the bits I liked from her car, and then the added extra fun that I have been looking for since I had to give up my 350z some 10+ years ago to look towards more family oriented cars. So looking into get a front and rear dashcam for my R when it turns up. Looking to hardwire them and will therefore be looking for a professional fit - I'm no good at those kind of things. Are the dashcams mentioned in this thread (nearly a year old now) still the recommended kit, or is something newer (such as the Nextbase 512GW) a worthwhile purchase? With regards to the hard wiring, how hidden is hidden? I hate seeing any wiring anywhere, least of all in a cabin that is otherwise clean and clear. I've read (for the front) that it runs along the window and down the passenger side pillar, but is that internal or external? I'm assuming external which I don't think I could get along with. Also, how does the rear one get hardwired? I've not seen info in this thread. Thanks.

Hi folks, new to the forum and decided to introduce myself. Got myself a new Golf R on order, painfully long wait but will be so worth it when it turns up late September / early October. Gone for Oryx white, 3dr, DSG, Vienna leather, Spielbergs and the DynAudio sound system. I've had a string of cars that I really couldn't have cared less about, all for practical / family reasons, but before those had a few more fun cars, with my favourite being a Nissan 350z. I'll no doubt be on the lookout for advice and guidance as I go through the ownership journey with you guys. Hope to see you on the road!

Hi folks, new to the group. Placed an order for a 3dr Golf R 310 DSG last week, with 19" Spielbergs, Vienna Leather and DynAudio Excite sound system in Oryx white. Looking like a late September / early October pickup. Very excited, the only car I've owned that even comes close to this was a 350z waaaay back. Looking forward to seeing you all out on the road.
