  1. Thanks Damian, My conscience is clear. He text me to tell me the news. I replied within 2 min asking him to call me so we could talk it through. He’s not taken me up on the offer. I think if he actually spoke with me he would of felt slightly comforted that he hadn’t been done over. Appreciate your feedback. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. There was no contract. It’s not required. He bought it, I transferred the V5 to his name. One private owner to another. I know legally I’m fine I was just morally checking with others I’m not being harsh. It does suck for him but it’s not something I’ve done with intent. It is unfortunately now his car so his responsibility. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Car park dent

I had a similar dent with paint damage repaired for £250. If it’s in the price range I can’t see them being too shocked. Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. We had a 40min test drive in the car. It was perfect. Not one problem. I do feel sorry for him but I can’t help feel he’s done something very wrong in a short amount of time. I put 25k on the clock in my ownership with zero issues. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. It sounds like he kept driving it after the light came on. Not sure what warning light it was but I never had any. He claims to have only done 500 miles since the purchase but if 400 have been done with an engine issue that can’t have done the car any good. If anyone does have any experience with the fault codes mentioned I’d appreciate your opinion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Hey, I hope you’re all keeping safe. Too much cleaning going on I’m sure. Just wanted to run something past you. I sold my R 6 weeks ago to a very nice guy and his wife. I received a message from him yesterday telling my the car is full of problems. He is very upset and wants me to help out financially. He said he had a light come on within the first week, then the ACC stopped working then the Auto Start stop and now it needs a new engine, quoting him £9k! He’s had 2 garages look at it. They’ve said either the mileage is wrong (68k) or its never been serviced. Both are untrue. They said it had bits of metal in the sump and the oil was too thick?! I’d put Castrol 5W 30 in so not a thick oil. I had it for 2 years and had it serviced twice in my ownership. The most recent was only 3k before I sold it. He sent me this pic of the error codes I never had a problem with the car. I looked after it perfectly. Only ever ran it on Shell V-Power. Which I told him to do also as it had a remap. I’m not worried about the legal side of things but does it sound like he’s had extremely bad luck, driven it very badly or is lying? I doubt he’s lying because he did seem like a very honest guy. Any thoughts would be appreciated and if anyone knows what the codes mean that might help too. Cheers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Wow, from a parenting point of view that’s terrible. The lesson today kids is run from your problems rather than doing the right thing. Karma will find him as will your insurance company we hope. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. That’s a great help. I do a fair bit of motorway driving and don’t tend to push the car hard. Think I’ll swap the rears to the front and get some new ones on the rear. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Hello Guys, So passed my MOT yesterday with an advisory my fronts are at 3mm. Obviously it’s approaching new tyre time but I just wondered what your thoughts were? Shall I just do the fronts or change all 4? The rears are at around 4.5mm. Cheers, Stu Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I know what you mean. It depends on the conditions. In rush hour I use the minimum gap setting. You can still use the throttle when you feel people starting to nudge in. It’s taken me a while to get used to but I’m getting better every day. ACC isn’t for everyone but I think once you know it’s weak spots you can adjust accordingly. With my wife and child in the car the leave it set to the third gap option. Zero complaints from all onboard makes for a much nicer journey. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I’ve got a manual. When using the ACC, Eco mode accelerates slower back up to the set speed. This helps hugely with your MPG. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Brilliant thank you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. So which wheel woolies set would you recommend? Not admitting my new toy won’t be up to the job just curious. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. To be honest I love a gadget. You know those catalogs aimed at old people that sell all in one slippers and bean bag trays, I love them! I’m sure it’ll be rubbish but even if I use it on my wheel arches I’ll be happy. Will try on the wife’s car first. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I’ve just ordered one of these bad boys. Not sure if it’ll be any good or not but worth a try. Has anyone else seen or tried one? https://stuffcandy.com/collections/automotive/products/360-wheel-brush-hero Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I do 40mpg daily on my boring M25 journey. Best I’ve had is 43mpg, 44 miles. All non motorway driving in Race mode and all motorway in Eco. I know many people will not see the point in owning a car like this and popping it into Eco mode but that’s exactly the reason I bought it. My commute is big and I love having a quick car but I also need to get more than 400 miles per tank of fuel. The R ticks all the boxes.
  17. Sorry for the delay James. New family member has stopped all lap top time. I have the Sachs Organic clutch. Great bit of kit, would highly recommend.
  18. I have a manual and love it. Do consider though you will need to upgrade the clutch and it will be stiff. If that is an issue then DSG would be a safe bet. If you are located near Berkshire you can try mine out if that helps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Hello, This is my first Whisbar. I have always had Thule on my old Golfs with the same fitment. The rubber pad behind the mounting bracket is a much better design than Thule. I think they are a safer fit. A mark will be left when I remove them but nothing a polish won't be able to remove.
  20. Small Roof Rack Decals added. The Whispbar logo always bothered me on my roof rack so I put vinyl wrap over their logo and added the “R” sticker. It’s the small touches I love. Or it’s just an excuse to get out and enjoy the sun. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I had nothing in my Mk5. This is very warm weather related and not influenced by the turn of the wheel. It’s fine at the moment due to the fact it’s freezing outside!
  22. A common problem them with little chance of it being resolved. My cars 2014 so I won’t get it under warranty. Guess I’ll just have to live with it (honestly don’t think I can). Thanks for all the replies confirming I’m not on my own with this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. So my car has developed a ridiculous, intermittent creaking from the front left. Potentially the suspension but I can’t replicate it pushing the car down by hand. It seems to happen when it’s warmer and is only audible at lower speeds but it is loud and very annoying. It’s definitely not the common door frame squeak. My question is has anyone else had the same problem and found a solution? It’s driving me crazy, please help! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Wow, that’s great, thank you. I’ll look into which one will be best. I’m using Williams ceramic coat. Not sure they have a huge range of products. After a commute around the M25 today the car looks like it did in the first pics already! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. I’m using the Williams Ceramic coat. I was given it as a gift. Not sure they do a detailing spray, will have to look into it. Thanks for the tips! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
