Hi All, Looking for a bit of advice regarding fuel. Have currently got a Stage 2+ on my Golf R Estate and the Remap that I have had done has been mapped specifically for the Shell V-Power 99 RON Fuel. Next year I'm looking to give the car a good run up to Scotland to see the in-laws and also give the NC500 a bash!! But (there's always a but), because of where they live (right out in the middle of nowhere) the fuel stations that they have there only supply regular 95 RON fuel and I've been told not to trust it as it can cause issues with the car, misfiring and injector failure, which I definitely want to avoid! My question is, after doing some googling and becoming no wiser, I have seen advertised some Octane boosters, which claim to boost the quality of the fuel up to 7 RON. Has anyone had any experience with these boosters and has anyone used them in their tuned cars specifically stage 2 or above in the event of not being able to obtain good quality fuel? Many Thanks Luke

@BobbyT Thanks for that, it's what i was looking at, and thinking, but as i've said above, i thought i'd check with peeps on here to see if they have had experience before. Would be gutted if i ordered them and they didn't fit!!!! It's clear answers like this that make this forum a great place!! Thanks again!!

@Penguin I have called them and if im honest they weren't much help I was told that the production years on their website are the years that it has been tested on, and they can't guarantee fitment on my year He said i could try them and if they don't fit send them back and they would refund me the cost minus postage, and call me tight but I don't fancy being out of pocket, so i thought i'd ask the question here first haha

This may have been answered before, but I would ask the question before I order them and they don't fit!! Has anyone had any experience on the fitment of the Maxton Rear Side Splitters / Spats on a 2017 Golf R estate? in their blurb it says its only suitable for models made between 2013-2016. Mine is a 2017 estate so are there any significant changes that would stop these from fitting my car? https://www.maxtondesign.co.uk/rear-side-splitters-vw-golf-mk7-r-estate Any help from you lovely people would be great. Many Thanks

Definitely a good idea, nothing like ending up at a shoddy dealer with something wrong and not getting what you want or taken for a ride. Here is my input: Recommend VW Hedge End, Southampton - When originally buy my Golf R Estate, they didn't have any at the showroom, only had the hatch, which i took out for quite a nice test drive, on my own so was able to explore the limits of the car, and upon returning the guy had phoned another showroom and they were bringing the Golf R Estate up for me to also have a test drive in. Waited there for around 20 minutes and then a blue Golf R Estate rolled up and was allowed to take that out and test that. Subsequently bought the one i have and was extremely impressed that the sales guy went the extra mile. Have also had all my services done there as well as a couple of warranty jobs that were completed quickly and efficiently. So would definitely recommend the guys at VW Hedge End AVOID VW Portsmouth - Absolute shambles of a dealer, when i originally approached them to test drive a used GTI Hatch, i was told i needed to put down a deposit of 10% before i took the car for a test drive. Now we all know that's complete b*****ks, so i told the guy i was here to test drive the car, if i want to buy the car after the test drive i would then put down a deposit. But he was adamant that this is the way their dealership works. To which my reply was to turn round and walk away. Later on down the line when i had bought my Golf R Estate, i wanted a boot liner for it. I ordered it over the phone from VW and they delivered it to VW Portsmouth as Southampton wasn't open because of a refit, so went down to collect it, cash in hand ready to pay my bill and was told they don't accept cash only card!! I mean come on, what dealership doesn't accept cash for things. So again i told them where to go, got back on the phone to VW who sent it by courier to my home and they even said they would be happy to take cash on the doorstep if i wanted to pay that way, i didn't, i paid over the phone but still has left a very sour taste in my mouth about that dealer and will only be using if every other dealership in the uk is shut!!!!

The Ali one looks ok, but not bad if it's real carbon fibre, i might enquire about the Original VW one which was mentioned above, but looks good mate, have spent far too much money on ali for my car haha -
Mk7 Golf R Estate Spoiler Options????
Guitar_freak1985 replied to Guitar_freak1985's topic in Modifying your Golf R MK7
Thanks for the reply, i can see what you mean about the gaps but will have a look a the VW lip spoiler and see what they look like, i just hate that it looks so bland oh well the search continues. Thanks for the response -
For months I have been looking for a suitable spoiler for my MK7 Golf R Estate. I like the look of the Oettinger spoilers but from what I have been told, it won't fit my car. Are there anyone that people can recommend. I have looked at the likes of Maxton and TRC but all their spoilers look like an after thought. I want something that is going to accent the lines of the car and just make that rear end a little more aggressive? Any pics or ideas will be welcome. Thanks in advance

This has probably been covered before, but i'm looking for advice on Strut braces for the golf R estate. Have looked all over the internet and can't really find anything that relates to the Estate / Variant version of the Mk7 Golf R. Has anyone got any advice or dealings with companies in the UK that could help out. I don't want to spend mega money but would like something to make the car handle a bit better and the chassis to respond a little better. I have had ST springs fitted to the car which have helped plant the car a little more but am looking for an improvement in rigidity. Any help or advice would be most welcome
