  1. New to the forum and new to Golf R ownership I have had my 2018 Indium Grey Golf R Estate / hearse for a month or so now. Have had a lot of VW's in the past (I still have a 1966 Beetle) but the closest I have got to a performance Golf was a MK IV GTI that I had when I was overseas. I know they are often maligned but I enjoyed driving it and was gutted when I had to sell it to come back to the UK in 2015. Have had mainly runabouts since then but after the head gasket went on my old car (Golf 1.6 Match) it was decided we needed something bigger, newer, much more reliable and FUN (I decided that part!!!!). After fair bit of research I decided to go for a Golf R Estate and after a few months of looking I found this one. However, as it was in Leicester and because of COVID couldn't take it for a test drive but decided to go for it anyway. I had 14 days after delivery to decide if I wanted to keep it or not but I think I knew after 14 mins driving it that I was going to love it!!! Obviously after my previous car it was always going to be a massive step up in performance but I love the Jekyll / Hyde character of the car. Happy to poodle around town but performance / handling in abundance when called upon it really is a fantastic car. I did think the first thing I would do would be to change the wheels but don't mind the Cadiz alloys now that I have seen them up close so going to hold off for the moment. If only there was a thread on this forum comparing Cadiz v Pretorias??? 😀Anyway, have rambled enough......thanks for listening if you made it this far.....
