@Booth11 you signed up to the All In plan yet or your car still not quite 3 years old? My new local dealer said I can do it on the day before it turns 3 - but I’m thinking of just paying for this years service separately then signing up to the £900 plan to cover the services / MOT at 4 & 5 years. Might take the plan out again at 5 years old for another 2 years cover - means warranty cover to 7 years!!! 😃

Received the recall letter today (despite being dated 25th Jan…. 🙄) and booked the job in for 23rd Feb. Apparently some extra “gauze” might be fitted Asked about the engine cover situation too since I’ve had no updates on it - it’s available apparently and one will be ordered in for fitting on same day as the recall check. 👍 As for the steering wheel - 7 months now since replacement and no issues thank god.

Ah good to know the sub cable can come out a bit more. Tyre place guy put my spare in the wall and promptly spent 10 mins trying to connect the cable to the sub! The guy had to ask what the hell you doing in the boot! if I had known that was what he was doing I’d have told him to not bother! 😃 Time to buy a spare scissor jack in that case.

24.5k miles and I’m still on the original discs / pads! Great bite and confidence inspiring - I like the OE brakes on this 8R 👍

No mention on that part I have to say - but if it’s been fully serviced by VW up to that point and it’s all on their system then I don’t see the issue. They have in effect 30 days to get the car eligibility checked / submitted to VW for approval - otherwise their T&Cs are questionable on point of fairness under the Consumer Rights Act, as we can’t start the process before the cars 3rd birthday!
-
As long as you take out the new agreement within 30 days of it being 3 years old, then the new 2 year warranty starts asap if I read the T&Cs correctly and you can claim straight away if need to. If your vehicle’s previous Volkswagen UK orVolkswagen Financial Services warranty expired over 30 days ago, then you won’t be able to claim in the first 30 days of your All-in Warranty (a “no-claim period”). Effectively, you’ll have 23 months where you can make a claim on your warranty. however they do exclude the Magna service costs from the plan !! (b) Service Plan - Additional Exclusions: (xiv) All non-standard service work. (xv) Cambelt and drive belt. (xvi) Airconditioning. (xvii) Drivetrain gearbox /Transmission service.

So whilst in getting the SW replaced, I asked them about the all in servicing offer for 3 year old cars. they were bit surprised as to why their system did allow my 21 reg car to show the price of the all in offer (£35 a month for 24 months), considering it’s under 3 years old and still in warranty. They confirmed they can’t control the warranty start date - so if I signed up for it now I will lose my 3rd year of manufacturer’s warranty. Which is pointless So plan is to book it in for its MOT / Service when time comes next year and start the new 2 year All in Plan once it’s out of its 3 year warranty. They’ll charge the MOT / Service against the new plan - effectively giving me a couple of days credit (they see me as low risk 😂) That way I’ll get my extra 2 years warranty - but obviously they £35 a month could be something else by this time next year 😬 They did offer the standard 2 year servicing plan at £27 a month but that doesn’t give you the MOT / Warranty / Roadside cover! They also reckon my next 2 services will cost over £1k - guess the Magna diff will need servicing.
-
Had mine fitted today - so will see how it goes. still no sign of the replacement engine cover though 🤔

Pretty much guaranteed your pedal will go a bit long and soft after a few laps due to the standard disc / pad combo not up to task for constant track abuse. it’s a fast road car at the end of the day and not designed for sustained high speed braking. you can make it last by doing say 5 Laps then giving the car / brakes a bit of down time, but staying out there for 20-30mins non stop will likely to give you braking issues imo on the stock brakes.

Mine is now going in end of the month to get its new steering wheel or the control module within it that’s causing the bongs. I said to Becs the other week that I hadn’t had many pings of late. Next morning driving to work it was ping ponging like mad. Typical! So I do hope the new part fixes that issue at least, but not liking the sound of it affecting constant reboots of the IFE. Even though it’s happened quite a bit of late, normally a minute after start up.
-
Not yet - kinda waiting for the call about the SW module even though the ping pong has been a lot less of late. But will ask the question at some point.
-
Did you ask ur dealer about signing up to the plan @Booth11?
-
That’s exactly how I see it - bit silly in that you can’t take this out in the final year of the original 3 year warranty period (whilst it’s not quite 3 years old) will have to check with the stealer on this.
-
You able to buy that already? If I click through on your link and buy online, I only get the Standard / Standard Plus plans available to me. It’s like I have to wait till it’s exactly 3 years old (May 2024) before you’re allowed to buy the All In plan!
-
Thanks Becs Just wondering, you taking up the Standard Plan offer from VW to cover years 3 & 4? £240 per oil service doesn’t seem so bad in the current climate. MOT due next year, and year 4 will need spark plugs + 4WD service + brake fluid anyway (all extras).

Might have to get a set of those black R badges though!

Had my 2nd service yesterday. Parked it to next to it’s lost at birth twin 😃 Also got a Gtechniq Do Not Wash hanger off my neighbour who prints all their marketing stuff - finally got the dealer to comply!! Needed new rear wiper apparently (£16) cos it was smearing - declined it as rather have Bosch aftermarket replacements (OEM fronts replaced already) A/C service at £150 almost fell off my chair! Declined that too. Brake Fluid changed at £69 Debating on sticking to dealer servicing next year or go Indy. S/W control module replacement part coming through now apparently but very slowly - so in queue waiting for my one. Car in fine shape otherwise at 20k miles.
-
Inflation and cost / shortage of parts to repair cars has really hit insurance costs this year it seems. DL quoted me £1500 for some insane reason! decided to stick with Aviva at £620 (25% increase) and keep the car stock for another year. 😊

Had this come up for first time on drive home last night on M1. Stopped at a services to have a quick bonnet up moment to see if there was still coolant in the bottle - luckily there was! Water temp was stable @ 90 degrees so drove it home. warning actually went off on start up. checked today and it does seem to be below the min at the mo. Will ask the dealer to top it up at the service in 2 weeks time. Happened to me with the RS3 and had to wait 3 hours for Audi assistance to put 0.5 litres of coolant into the tank. The guy said it happens very often - the sensor is very sensitive in triggering the warning! But the car can be driven as long as the tank is not empty and water temp is normal. Just top it up when you can.

The other half is trying real hard for me to get a deal done on this Daytona Carbon Black version at APS at the mo with our 8R 😃 https://www.apsspecialistvehicles.co.uk/showroom/2023-audi-rs3-carbon-black-2/ The all black one they had 2 weeks ago went within a day of being advertised. That was pure stealth / gangster look 😍

I don’t think I can trust myself with a DA. 😂 A guy on our estate has converted his garage into proper detailing studio and does detailing on the side / weekend hobby. I’ll prolly let him loose on the R in the next few months. Need a new dose of ExoV4 put on it anyway (which needs curing indoors for 24 hours)

That looks amazing! Great job My piano black pillars don’t shine like that one bitI have to say after 2 years of washing 🤦🏻♂️

It won’t be 34.5mpg when u start making the 5 pot sing cos it is addictive! But worth every penny 😍

Ping pong issue update: just had a call from the dealer - new instruction from VW AG is to replace the electronic control module only within the steering and not replace the entire SW! Think someone alluded to this earlier: to do that they need to have the car for 15 mins to read the serial number on the back of the airbag! Then get the parts ordered. So will be ping ponging to the dealer first thing tomorrow. Will be making sure it does not get washed! 😃
