  1. Hi everybody, I hope to be in the right place for my question. Last year I bought a set o black pretoria wheels, 19' ET42 8.5' width from CMWheels. I have to say that the quality of the wheels is really high, perfectly round, low weight to balance (a good quality factor) and resisted well to many potholes (italian roads are sometimes really dangerous...) until some days ago, when a really deep pothole damaged 1 wheel. Locally I found only one repair shop, but asked me 240€for the repair, well over the price that I paid, so I would buy a new wheel, but CMWheels is out of stock and they don't know when will be available, and locally the few shop that sells this wheel are not willing to sell a single wheel, only sets of 4. I am considering to buy fron Germany but strangely am not able to find a german seller of replica wheels, so please is anyone able to give me the name of some wheel shop from Deutscheland? Thanks
  2. I forgot to say that I have an intake system, pikey mod to the stock airbox, alpha turbo elbow and intake hose. After the intake mod, but berfore the tune, no turbo flutter vas audible, it appeared just after the tune. Maybe the BV valve was already weak, 45k km , and the tune stressed it to the point of causing the problem. Now I am waiting for the new DV and the GFB DV T9359. The flutter isn't always present, it appears randomly, the most times in urban driving
  3. Thank you, really helpful! Tomorrow I will order the DV+. I haven't problems with induction sounds, in my previous car, a Fiesta ST MK7, i Installed the turbosmart valve and loved the whistle, but this in an ugly noise. I Was also considering the GFB DVX, with variable noise level, but perhaps it is a little "too much".
  4. Hello everybody, last year, in june i went on for a tune, TVS stage 2 ECU and Stage 2+ TCU. The result is impressive, the tuner gave me a dyno chart , 382 hp and 510 N/m torque. The car feels really faster, but a problem arised: on the way back (a 200km mountain drive) i noticed a strange fluttering noise when backing off the throttle. 2 months later i went back in modena to let the tuner hear the noise, he said not to worry, normal consequence of the tune, due to the management of the turbo back pressure. Same answer that another tuner near my town (Pisa) gave me when I took the car for a service. Now after lots of searching I am convinced that the noise is turbo surge, but need advice on how to solve this. May be the DV is faulty, but the fact that it appeared immediately after the tune is suspect. I could try to install a new DV valve, it is not an expensive part, less than 100€, or I can try to solve installing a GFB DV+ , but I hate working this way, guesswork isn't a good procedure for my experience. Is there a way to bench test the DV valve after having removed from the turbine? I contacted TVS to have the possibility to make a reverse test, rerinstalling the stock file to see if the problem disappears, and they agreed, but is not pratical, a 400 km travel to the tuner who probably is not willing to spend his time in this operation (I am obviously willig to pay for his time to recover peace of mind). From what I have read, turbo surge is potentially harmful for the turbine, and I now no longer enjoy my drives, to the point of turning on the music at high volume not to hear the throttle release flutter.
  5. Have a question, I will soon have to install the Eibach pro kit spring set on my 2018 R and I'd like to know if is advisable to buy a set of new rubber spring caps in case they are worn, my R has 45k km. I searched for this info but was'nt able to find nothing useful. They are cheap parts and would be unpleasant finding that they are worn out at the moment of installation. In my previous car, a 2016 Fiesta ST, these parts were known for premature wear. Thanks
  6. Just bought a set on auto-doc for 160€ shipped, but don't know if can be economically convenient importing from EU, my inverse experience was a disaster, bought a used OBDeleven on this forum for £ 45 and had to pay 29€ in custom duties
  7. I found this on a reseller site Asse di carico max. anteriore (front spring rate): -> 1120Kg Asse di carico max. posteriore (rear spring rate : -> 990Kg
  8. just found this thread, it seems a bad idea to delete the resonator on the Akrapovic
  9. I made some searches but cannot find anything about the possibility to install the BCS res delete on my 2018 mk7.5 R with the Akrapovic option, the oem resonator is a separate piece installed with band clamps . I emailed Nige who promptly answered me that it cannot be done, they don't sell a version for my exhaust system, but maybe someone has tryed so am looking here for this information, if someone has some valuable info I will be happy to know. thanks everyone
  10. Thank you Neil, I employed the last 4/5 monts searching for the perfect car, a 3 door would have been the perfection, but at the end i found a near perfect car for me. In the meantime I have spent countless hours on this forum, the thread you mention is a treasure of informations, and I like the idea of learning new skills
  11. I have to wait, will be delivered in 2 weeks… time for decide the first mods. For now Royal steering wheel and s2t paddles, found on the classifieds. next will be a pedal box (seems an essential upgrade) then later will follow a TCU tune but i will take my time, may seem strange but at 66 i only have driven manuals
  12. too late for me, just bought my mk7.5 . Anyway an 8 R was a little out of my actual budget , better for me a 7.5 and a decent sum left to play with it. And not to mention that 3 sellers told me the same thing, if I order one now i will get it no sooner than 6/2022 , I am too old to waste 10 months of my life….
  13. this is what i have read, and is really tempting. Ecu tune will probably follow in a later date, i come from a 6 years ownership of a fiesta st 182, tuned to revo stage 2 240 hp more or less (never rolled) so for the moment 310 hp will be more than adequate for fun drive.
  14. I am aware of the problem, my hope is that if a big problem arises in non tcu areas (engine, electronics etc) they will not search for a tcu tune. However if it don't raises a TD1 i cal always return to stock software, i hope. For the moment i have read all i can find on the argument, but i have zero experience regarding dsg boxes, have only driven manuals for all of my life, so i dont't know what to expect, but seems thad a tsv tcu tune gives so much improvement that is difficult not considering this opportunity. I will drive my new car for a while and then i will make a decision
  15. it is what i suspected, , i can only rely on the fact that in Italy an R is a rare sight and so the mechanics aren't prepared to search for mods, the one working where i bought the car didn't even knew that a tcu can be tunable. Probably i will run the risk, temptation is too high, and i am too old to waste 2 years waiting for the warranty to expire

    Hello

in January when I sold my previous car prices are lower, at that time I found a 2019 R with only 4000 km priced at 30.000 €, albeit a basic specced car, but almost new, but prices are soaring now, the cause is probably the chip shortage. A week ago an official VW dealer told me that if i order a mk8 R now, it will be delivered between June/july 2022....
  17. have just bought a 2018 mk7.5 with 2 years “das welt auto” warranty from vw , and am trying to understand if a tcu tune will be detected and void the warranty, like an ecu tune. will it raise a TD1 flag or something similar? I have tried with the search function but found nothing, may be my fault
  18. In my opinion Prets on a mk8 R would be a great choice, my recently acquired Mk7.5 R has them and for the first time in my life, and i am 66, i will not change the wheels for aftermarket ones because have never seen a better looking one on the golf. And beig light forged rims they are a valid choice technically. If it was mine i woud go prets without esitation.

    Hello

the search is over! from yesterday i am finally a Golf R owner. Found a 2018, 26k miles mk7.5 R in Uranio gray ( from the papers a pearlescent custom tint) 5 door ( i know… was looking for a 3 door, but are too few, actually only 1 for sale in italy ang 11 in germany, all poorly specced ones) . The previous owner was a VW manager, a company car, maintained at no expense spared, with 2 years “das welt auto platinum” like a new car, and stratospherically specced: you name it, it is present: Akrapovic, R-Performance, Pretoria, full nappa leather, dynaudio, discover pro, carbon mirror covers, dsg, wireless phone charger, DCC, ACC, keyless, virtual cockpit, and so many others that is impossible to list, 196 in total, for a total of well over 20k €. Paid 37.400€ comprensive of all and delivered at my house, 400 miles from the seller, an official vw dealer obviously, including the ridiculous italian tax on the transfer of property, about 1400€. Really happy, now the wait begins, there will be 2 weeks for delivery.
  20. at the moment it’s impossible to contact Royal Steering Wheels to ask if they work outside Great Britain on exchange base, so I am asking if someone has experienced their work from abroad
  21. thank you Rebecca, very helpful info from you. Your wheel is surely thicker than the old mk7 one, and much better looking for me, not needing a re-trim fir sure, and so is the dashboard behind it. I will soon buy a mk7.5 and was tempted fron the mk8 but 2 things discouraged me, first the price, in Italy we need about 63k € for a well specced one , and no discounts are available, and the fact that at the moment tuners cannot break the ecu
  22. ok, this is what I hoped to hear. 3 dys ago I probably found the right car, and not too far from me, only 300km , so next week I will go to take a look to the real car, and this will be one of the first mods, along with a pedal box. I only hope that Royal will agree to work on my wheel from Italy, will contact them as soon as I collect the car thank you
  23. I love the look of the Royal wheel mod, alcantara with raised thumbs, 2 mm thicker than standard and with center band, but I have really tiny hands ( I am 5,24 ft tall …) . So am asking if someone with small hands like me, most probably a woman, is confortable with a thicker wheel
  24. Revo numbers with opf cars, stage 2 , are better than non opf ones, seems that they made a big amount of RnD , as they always do. Others will have to follow, I presume. I have chosen not to buy a MK8 R mainly because of not being possible to tune it ( and because thev3 door option is unavailable….)
  25. good news, 5 years without issues gives me the confidence I need, I have idea to keep the R for almost 6/7 years. I run the Tarox 6 pots on my fiesta st and loved the performances and the look. Have read that the 8 pots Tarok BBK fits under Pretoria wheels without spacers, can you confirm? I haven’t found evidence of Revo figures of their stage 2 tune with opf cars, I have to trust, at the end figures are not so relevant, the driving experience is, and I hope 8am almost sure) that will be a great one
