1. Thanks, they come with a fitting kit so all good there. Will sort some new locking bolts before fitting.
2. Well, just like that, i've ordered them! Can anyone confirm if the standard wheel nuts/bolts will fit, or if I will need new ones? Thanks all!
3. Thanks for all your thoughts. Still not sure what to do, but think i'm leaning mostly towards silver Revo's now. 😂 Means they will match the mirror caps, and saves a grand on the OZ's. Just need to get my butt in gear and take the plunge to order.
4. I love bronze with Red. This may sound stupid, but as my mirrors are silver I'd be constantly looking thinking they don't match. 🤦‍♀️ That's why I thought the white gold was a bit less different. I do like the Revos and prices are similar to the Sparco. I guess I was trying to go for something different, but at the same time.... its got to look good! Anyone know any decent fitting aftermarket mirror covers that fit well? There are so many on ebay! 🤣
5. Hi all, So i've got the chance to buy myself some new wheels for the R. I've always wanted a set of ultraleggeras, but they are so expensive. I love Ultralights but I don't think they are available anymore, and I like the Revo's aswell. However, I have also seen the Sparco Assetto Gara which come in bronze and are half the price of Ultra's. I've done some pretty impressive paint-shopping of the Sparco's, along with some white gold Ultras. I think the white gold is a bit different, and subtler than the bronze. What do people think??
6. Thanks. Think I will take it off.
7. Warranty runs out today. Booked MOT and service for Thursday so I can get the All-In plan in place beforehand and use that. Annoyingly you can't get that until manufacturer warranty is up. TBH I'm not worried about having it replaced as i'm presuming the new one will just do the same anyway. That sucks about the tyres!
8. Hi all, I have my first MOT booked for Thursday this week and have the sagging insulation issue, of course! I don't particularly want it listed as an advisory, so thinking of just taking it off for now. Will that be okay for the MOT, or will I get an advisory for not having anything fitted anyway? What have others done? Thanks Clare
9. Thank you. I think I want some bronze Ultralegerras, so saving for them. The 19'' HLTs are a lot more expensive than the 17s I had on my fiesta!
10. Thanks for all the comments. Still loving it, although I have found that I am becoming more lazy and driving in Auto most of the time. Not a bad thing, a bonus of DSG for town driving. The car is currently in VW having the roof surround replaced and door sill fixed. Collecting it this afternoon. Very surprised they have done the roof in just one day. I had a call not long ago to say it was done, but needed a few hours to set before I can pick it up.
11. Thanks! Yes, love the exhaust. Not too noisy, but a bit of a growl, and some farts too. 😂 It's got the performance pack, so big brakes, as well as DCC and full leather. I didn't really want leather or the pan roof, but ended up with them both! The leather is actually nice, and as long as the roof gets fixed, then i'll be happy.
12. I was considering Tumeric Yellow, but so pleased I stuck with red. I'm definitely a red car person! I can't see wheels happening anytime soon tbh, so more than likely i'll be on to you to see what wheels you have gone for! The current fronts are in a real state, especially in the 'trough'. So need to get them off at some point for a proper going over and some extra protection, whilst I save the pennies for a new set.
13. So i've had my car 3 weeks tomorrow, and finally managed to give it a good clean last weekend. Thought it was about time I took some better photos now it was a bit more shiny. I still want to give it a polish with some fresh wax, and have just ordered some Scholl S30 to try, but it may be a while before I get the opportunity to spend some proper time on the car, 'cos, life, kids, and all that! Anyhow, here's the little beasty I absolutely love this car! It's exactly what I had hoped for in my next car, and the reason I parted ways with the Abarth. No denying I miss the little green pea, but the R is just on another level. My husband is yet to drive it, but am very interested to see what he thinks as a Focus RS owner! I don't really have any plans for the car. Maybe will look to change the wheels down the line for some Ultraleggerras, or CM pret reps, but we shall see. For me, it needs no more power at the moment. The Abarth was a mere 220bhp, so this is plenty faster for the time being. 🙂 Friday, VW are 'looking' at the cracked roof, but no idea when that will actually get sorted though, hopefully not too long a wait!
14. So for the time being i've decided against having my dash board taken apart for the immobiliser. However, fitted the dash cam all fine using the usual piggy back fuse method and all is working now.
15. So I managed to do this. Just primed the ignition without actually starting the car, foot on brake and pressed the handbrake and it came off. Managed to roll the car all fine.
16. Hi all, Is there a way to take the handbrake off without starting the engine? I want to wash the car but need to push it forward a foot or two. Surely I dont have to start the car to do this? Thanks
17. Nope, still can't figure out how to add photos properly! 🤦‍♀️
18. Thanks, I pulled the glovebox down and it was pretty easy to get to the fusebox, so think I will just buy some new piggyback fuses and fit the cam ourselves. Whilst pulling down the glovebox though, these little guys fell out... anyone have any ideas where they go?
19. Hi, thanks for this. What month is yours? Mine was registered in June, so not sure how much difference that makes. But he showed me under the steering column and there was no ignition wiring, just a metal box. My thoughts are though that if this is a very early later car (if that makes sense!) then surely those fitting alarms or immobilisers to later cars (mk8s even?) would have the issue and i've not seen anything about that. Might do a bit more searching. Its a thinkware camera i've had in my previous two cars, and the other half has the same in his RS, so am really confused why he was going to permanently wire that in, rather than using the piggy back fuses that were already attached. I am tempted to tell him i'm not happy with the car being taken to pieces right now (i've only had it a week today), especially when i've got to get the pan roof done! Diskloks are fitted, keys all in faraday pouches/boxes and will be getting GAP insurance as soon as the V5 arrives and I can change my plates.
20. Hi all, I had Safe and Sound round today to have an immobiliser fitted, and he was due to fit my dash cam at the same time to save the other half a job. However, my car is June 2020, and he said that the ignition wiring is not in the usual place under the steering column. It is in fact under the dashboard so he therefore couldn't fit anything on my drive. To fit the immobiliser he would need to remove the dash and stereo to get to the ignition wiring behind there. Has any one come across this before? I don't know what to do now, as I'm not sure how keen I am for my car to be taken to pieces. Also, I was expecting the dash cam to be plugged into the fuse box, but the guy had cut off my piggyback fuses and mentioned about fuses blowing, and presumably was also going to wire that into the ignition wiring too. I really don't think that is necessary, especially as this will now be my third car with the same camera and so would like to be able to easily remove it if I needed to. But has anyone had any issues plugging into the fuse box on a later mk7.5? Annoying I now need to get new piggybacks as he cut them off! Many thanks Clare

Thanks all. I'll be calling the dealer tomorrow to get it booked in ASAP. I read the thread on the GTI forum and it appears with the official bulletin out, its a recognised issue so I shouldn't have any problems with them accepting a warranty claim. Hoping that they fully bond it on rather than the spots which I believe is what causes it.

It worked! Loving the car, however it needs to go to the dealer. In the two days I've had it, the dreaded pan roof crack has appeared! I swear it wasn't there when we collected as I have been fully aware of it, and it's the reason I didnt really want pan roof. However, it's happened, and if I can get it sorted straight away then I know the roof should be fine from now on and won't always be worrying when it will go. My drivers sill is also not working which doesn't bother me, but as it needs to go in for the roof then will get that sorted too.
