  1. 2017 Golf R estate MK7.5 RTech Performance Stage 1 tune De-res exhaust (rest of system standard) Forge carbon air induction kit/foam filter Forge air intake hose Forge turbo muffler delete Racingline turbo elbow Think it could do better but chuffed with that for an estate. Pre-tune it did 0-60 in 4.2secs.
  2. Mines an estate so practicality is a big plus for me but also the ease of working on the car and availability of upgrade parts.
  3. Hello all, Just a quick question. I have a MK7.5 Estate R and have recently replaced my old Cadiz alloys that had 225/40/18's on with some new alloys. The new alloys are 8J and I am running Michelin Pilot Sport 5 235/40/18 tyres. What tyre pressures do others run with similar size tyres please? I originally ran 38Psi all-round with the old 225/40/18 tyres and asked a local garage who believe I should run the same tyre pressure on my new tyres too. Thanks for any insight.
  4. @Jace how much was the triangle then if you don't mind sharing? Frustratingly it's one of the things I noticed about my estate when I bought it and thought to myself I'll put a triangle in it that Ii had from a previous car buy typically the one I have doesn't fit. Hopefully something we'll never need anyway but I believe if you travel to France you need one by law.
  5. The silicone thing, ...doesn't it need to be in there though for some reason?
  6. Speedline Imperatore 18" alloys. ET40 8J with 235/40/R18 MPS5.
  7. Cheers. I always tend to go for 5 spoke or 6 spoke alloys partly because they're easier to clean but I did feel these in particular would look good on the R. 😁
  8. Thanks I'm pretty pleased with them. Not the best picture especially as because it's parked up on a curb the gap on the back wheel arch looks huge.
  9. Thank you and yes it's a 7.5R, ...estate. 😉 The discs are Vagbremtechnic "J" hook which I am using with Tarox Strada pads all round & HEL s/s brake lines.
  10. Not posted here before but thought I'd share my new wheels purchase as the Mrs isn't interested although she did say they were pretty. They're Speedline Imperatore alloys with 235/40/18 MPS5 tyres. Also added Ezmods "R" decals to my calipers as well as painted the rear brake disc hubs with black VHT paint (fingers crossed it will last). 😉
  11. Hope you get it refunded soon. If you paid via credit card and the seller is being awkward maybe see if the credit card company can get it back for you instead? Anyway love your black Golf R ~ looks great. White is a PITA so I think you dodged a nuisance car imho as I was forever trying to get tar marks etc off my last car a white Beemer.
  12. My small contribution. Glad it made you chuckle.
  13. Welcome aboard @Geordie_73 . My last car was a BMW M135i as well so some things you can straight away enjoy from your new VW compared to the BM is that the Golf actually has a dipstick! How cool is that? No more guessing if the oil sensor is broken or waiting for the PTSD inducing BMW "bing bong" just lift the bonnet and check yourself. Other benefits include an oil temperature guage as well as water temperature gauge to help you see when things are upto temperature and safe to put your foot down a little if the mood takes you. As you can tell I don't miss my old Beemer at all. Very happy with the R so far. Hope it's that same for you. Oh and regarding fuel I'd stick to Super Unleaded ~ I'm using Tesco Momentum 99 but only because it's the most convenient station for me to use.

I don't think any true petrol head/car enthusiast ever loses the love, ...it's in our blood. Enjoy your new Golf R @RWC , ....I said; "ENJOY YOUR NEW GOLF R" . 😉
  15. Honestly @Swerve s**t happens. Doesn't matter how good of a person you are, how much you look after something or someone bad things happen unfortunately. Hopefully it's not too bad and as @Booth11 said at least you have a warranty. Best of luck.
  16. Not sure if you're joking or not but just in case you're not it's a reflection from a strip bar light or roof beam sorry to disappoint, 😉 ....you can see he still has two wiper blades.
  17. Just wondering as changing the brakes on my estate is something of a future plan ~ what size discs are the RS ones and what sort of money are they? I'm trying to find the best BBK (price & performance) to fit under 18" wheels. Thanks for any info.
  18. The upgraded intercooler is definitely going to help keep intake temperatures down but personally I think the difference between an open air filter and closed air intake in the engine bay is going to be negligible. I always now go for an enclosed air intake system as I want to minimise any potential for heat soak even if it's only going to improve performance by a tiny bit. I'd always rather my car sounded a little quieter but went a little quicker rather than the other way around. If you want a little more turbo noise I'd definitely recommend a turbo muffler delete. It will also make the car slightly more responsive according to manufacturer blurb but when I fitted mine I found it allows for a little more turbo spool noise which is pleasing. If you can get one second hand that is what I'd do as the new prices for what they are is a little expensive.
  19. The 7.5 is a superb car and personally I think it's the best looking of the Golfs but then I may be slightly biased (mine's a 7.5 as well albeit the estate). Interesting reading the thread and glad to see you're happy with your car again.
  20. Mine does this too, ...never stalled though or died, plugs only changed last year and all coil packs good as checked recently by VW. I think it's a trait of the cars with DSG.
  21. No I prefer my cars to be a little noisy (engine noise/induction noise/exhaust noise) so it doesn't bother me. I actually didn't like the sound from my old BMW M135i as it just felt too quiet a lot of the time thanks to BMW's good cabin insulation and valved exhaust. I ended up getting a custom exhaust manufacturer to make me an exhaust valve by-pass so the car was a little more noisy.

    Intro

    Welcome aboard.
  23. Loves his BMW's, ....he's had; 750i, 328Ci, 330Ci, M235i, M240i and now a M135i X-drive. In between though he has had some other makes, few Renaults, a Peugeot and two TVR's. There just the cars I can remember. My estate doesn't have a valved exhaust system no. Why do you ask?
  24. Don't mind "Eco" mode but I cannot be doing with "stop-start" ~ thankfully another thing removed by OBD11 mods on my car. My old man has always been into his cars and has had his fair share of fast ones. On his more modern cars that he's had over the last decade (BMW M235i, M240i, M135i) he refuses to use "Eco" modes even when to me it makes sense as you're in slow moving traffic or cruising at a set speed on a motorway etc. He says the car just feels dead in "Eco" mode which is obvious really but that's the point of it to some extent, dials back all the power for more efficiency. FYI ~ my R is a Mark 7.5 estate and a pre-GPF model AFAIK.
