  1. Hi, I did similar mods in the same order as you. First stage one and then added inlet pipe and elbow (plus turbo muffler delete) months after. I didn’t have any turbo flutter after inlet mods. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Definitely return and well done for being so thorough. Even if nothing goes wrong it’ll maybe always weigh on your mind that you may have a [emoji522] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I agree with this. I’ve had my GPF R running Revo stage 1 for a while now with Revo panel filter. All of which I was extremely happy with over stock as it’s much quicker. I just got my Revo guy to add turbo elbow, pipe and turbo muffler delete [emoji3526] and scared myself with the much faster pickup on first drive with the inlet mods. Feels like more power and torque too but the pickup is very noticeably faster and i have now recalibrated my right foot accordingly [emoji38] Maybe a bit more noise from the turbo too… maybe! 5. I ‘upgraded’ from a 2018 M3 Comp (pre OPF) to a 2019 R with standard akrapovic and DCC which I then got a REVO stage 1 ECU and TCU on. IMO Golf is more fun, more reliable and much more usable more of the time. Sounds better than the M 2X3 cylinders through unequal length exhausts too! My mates with a C63s and M2 thought I was mad until they tried to keep up! We are a one car family tho’ so an all rounder is important. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Anybody tried this package? Decent look and upgrade from stock for those who need to replace discs and pads? I need to replace stock discs and pads soon…. 7. Don’t forget you can get the standard akrapovic exhaust on the later model 7.5s and they don’t have resonators to counter the GPF! I waited for one with akrapovic plus the right additional spec and really like it. Happy searching……. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Any more information or independent reviews on the APR DCC controller available yet? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    New to the R

Welcome! DCC a great option and I look forward to you sharing your mods with the forum. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Fabulous colour, arguably the best! Subtle mods… Steering wheel wrap? New paddle shifts? Aluminium dial surrounds? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Very sorry to hear your R has been stolen. If it’s not insensitive timing may I ask whether it was locked as keyless (touch the handle) or locked with the key fob, with the delayed touch of the outer handle, to disable keyless? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I have a Deep Pearl hatch and the paint work was horrendously swirly when I bought it used so I negotiated the money off equivalent to a stage 1 machine polish. The detailer I use says the clear top coat on Golfs can be very soft (depends on year) so it swirls easily but on the brightside polishes up to ~90% swirl reduction very easily too. Then you just need to look after it properly. I’ve had a plain white R estate too and fwiw I prefer DP black. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Welcome, that’s a great VW history. I really enjoyed my Mk6 GTI but R is brilliant, enjoy! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Body colour and wheel combo looks great! Enjoy! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Some thoughts for your sums…. - diesels typically lower service interval than Golf R and more expensive to service? Plus DPF does not like short commutes. - diesel cost likely to remain > petrol as UK imports diesel (but not from Russia anymore) and exports petrol. - I average about 25mpg out of my R and a lot of smiles per gallon. Back in an R…

Leyo make the heater control bezels and I got them from awesomegti. I am very pleased with them, quality fit and finish. I think they do black ones too. 17. Aren’t we debating exactly why the R is so good? It can keep so many people happy with its capabilities and adaptability? - Standard it’s a great daily, can still be covered by a reasonable warranty, holds it own against most cars. - Stage 1 (by reputable specialist) it’s still reliable daily (may want to reduce service intervals) and can embarrass a lot of more exotic cars. - Stage 2…. Some great roads up there! I worked at Grangemouth for 7 years [emoji4] What spec R are you looking for? I’ve had an R with and without DCC and really like it, but I do live where there are a LOT of potholes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That’s quite a contrast, enjoy! I came back to a Golf R 4 years after my first as they are such good cars. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It certainly is plus the exhaust camshaft realignment for my M3 scared me [emoji857] fortunately under warranty! Stage 1 R is a much better all round all year daily. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    New 2015 R Owner

Welcome, sounds like a great car, and there are a number of companies (e.g. in Leicester and London) that will upgrade both the nav to a later version and the dash to digital. Search VAG Coding on Google or Instagram. I don’t have any experience of using them but they seem to get a lot of custom… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Hi, I have the std Akrapovic on a GPF car too and love the sound! (It took me ages to find one used with DCC and pan-roof[emoji4]) I added Revo stage 1 (and TCU) and think it added slightly to the sound and I love the extra performance. How are you liking Stage 2? A big difference in performance and sound and worth the money? Did you opt for Turbo muffler delete? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Interesting debate and I think (2) reliable improvements over stock are possible as a lot of cars are well below max safe operating window out of the factory for various reasons. e.g. maximising maintenance window. I would suggest that the probability of issues has reduced since 2010 as data / computing and understanding of max operational limits has improved by the big tuning brands. My suggestions for reducing probability of having issues would be: - use a tuning brand who has a done a lot research/testing on your car and ideally get it done by trusty John at the local car specialist rather than Kevin off of Instagram with a laptop. I would also not trust xxx company that will tune anything, how can they know the safe operating limit for so many cars? - use forums like this to get advice on reduced maintenance intervals and discuss with trusty John at the car specialist and get it done by him. - the further you push the bigger the risk It’s personal choice but I am happy to do my research and balance my own risk versus reward. I’d prefer to have the fun of modifying versus being left wondering… and, even if you don’t modify things can go wrong… biggest repair bill I’ve had for a car (fortunately under warranty) was standard, low miles and had a FBMWSH!
