  1. Battery was replaced in decemeber 24, coded and been fine since it was fitted. It’s not a stop/start error either, it’s 12v battery not charging
  2. Thanks but yeah, I did say that in my first post that error code came up pointing to the alternator - but the point of the post was if anyone else had had any similar issue that turned out not to be the actual alternator itself (purely because i’ve just put this brand new one on in June!) if the alternator’s coming off it’s being sent back under warranty - i wont be stripping anything 👍 As for freeze frame - here’s the reason I couldnt do it - as mentioned before I dont have pro anymore as it ran out:-
  3. Bingo - thats exactly what it is. here’s the log OBDeleven vehicle history log Date: 2025-10-23 20:59:20 VIN: WVWZZZAUZHP531386 Car: Volkswagen Year: 2017 Body type: Variant Engine: CJXC kW ( hp) l Mileage: 112592 km --------------------------------------------------------------- Full scan Control Units: 18 Fault count: 7 Control Units: 02 Transmission System description: DQ250-6A MQB Software number: 0D9300012 Software version: 5046 Hardware number: 02E927770AQ Hardware version: H54 Faults: No trouble codes found 16 Steering Column System description: Lenks.Modul Software number: 5Q0953521P Software version: 0235 Hardware number: 5Q0953569A Hardware version: 075 Faults: No trouble codes found 55 Headlight Regulation System description: AFS-ECU Software number: 7P6907357D Software version: 0090 Hardware number: 7P6907357A Hardware version: H07 Faults: No trouble codes found 15 Airbag System description: AirbagVW20 Software number: 5Q0959655AA Software version: 0388 Hardware number: 5Q0959655AA Hardware version: 015 Faults: No trouble codes found 09 Central Electrics System description: BCM PQ37BOSCH Software number: 5Q0937086AK Software version: 0162 Hardware number: 5Q0937086AK Hardware version: 028 Faults: No trouble codes found 03 Brakes System description: ESC Software number: 5Q0614517BK Software version: 0736 Hardware number: 5Q0614517AH Hardware version: H62 Faults: No trouble codes found 08 Air Conditioning System description: Climatronic Software number: 5G0907044BL Software version: 1601 Hardware number: 5G0907044BL Hardware version: H04 Faults: No trouble codes found 44 Steering Assistance System description: EPS_MQB_ZFLS Software number: 3Q0909144K Software version: 5072 Hardware number: 3Q0909144H Hardware version: 506 Faults: No trouble codes found 22 All Wheel Drive System description: Haldex4Motion Software number: 0CQ907554H Software version: 7083 Hardware number: 0CQ525130 Hardware version: H52 Faults: No trouble codes found 52 Passenger Door System description: TSG BFS Software number: 5Q4959592E Software version: 0031 Hardware number: 5Q4959592B Hardware version: 010 Faults: No trouble codes found 42 Driver Door System description: TSG FS Software number: 5Q4959593E Software version: 0031 Hardware number: 5Q4959593B Hardware version: 010 Faults: No trouble codes found 76 Parking Assistant System description: PARKHILFE 8K Software number: 5Q0919294K Software version: 0054 Hardware number: 5Q0919294A Hardware version: H03 Faults: No trouble codes found A9 Structure Borne Sound System description: SAS-GEN 2 Software number: 5G0907159D Software version: 0001 Hardware number: 4H0907159A Hardware version: H07 Faults: No trouble codes found 5F Multimedia System description: MU-S-ND-ER Software number: 3Q0035874B Software version: 0356 Hardware number: 3Q0035874B Hardware version: H30 Faults: B201A00 - Checking software version management static B200087 - Control module Software incompatible static 01 Engine System description: 2.0l R4 TFSI Software number: 5G0906259J Software version: 0002 Hardware number: 06K907425B Hardware version: H13 Faults: U044700 - Invalid Data Received From Serial Data Gateway Module "A" Intermittent 19 Gateway System description: GW MQB High Software number: 5Q0907530AM Software version: 2265 Hardware number: 5Q0907530M Hardware version: 212 Faults: P1B0000 - Generator Mechanical malfunction Intermittent U140600 - Static current too high Intermittent 13 Adaptive Cruise Control System description: ACC BOSCH MQB Software number: 5Q0907572G Software version: 0571 Hardware number: 5Q0907572G Hardware version: H10 Faults: U112300 - Databus error value received Intermittent 17 Dashboard System description: KOMBI Software number: 5G1920958B Software version: 8311 Hardware number: 5G1920958B Hardware version: 304 Faults: U111000 - Function restriction due to communication interruption Intermittent
  4. Version 1.34.0 on IOS - no history or anything like the screenshots in that article
  5. Thanks for this but i dont have the pro version of obd11 - it ran out about 6 months ago. I also dont have “history” as an option in obd11 either to follow those steps.
  6. Need some advice here folks to save my sanity. Put a brand new bosch alternator on the car 4 months ago due to my original alternator failing completely and it’s been absolutely fine since then. i had also replaced the battery back in december 24 as the old one was struggling to crank in the cold weather….again, all good after it was swapped. In the last 2 weeks, i randomly get the 12v battery not charging error on the dashboard, along with a load of error codes in obd11 - including one for generator (alternator) issue. I thought it might have been a lose/broken cable but I believe I have found the issue to be something to do with me going into either 5th or 6th gear - but not every single time. I know it’s not rev related because I can drive at 3-4k revs in 1-4th gear and have no issue, but it seems that sometimes when I go into 5th or 6th, I can watch the voltage (via obd11) drop to 12.4 to 11.9 and as soon as it dips below 12.0 i get the 12v battery not charging. It done this tonight when trying to replicate it, I then slowed right down and dropped into lower gears, accelerated and the battery light went off and voltage showed as 13.8 again - and i could proceed in 5th and then 6th with no issues….. wtf’s going on!?! My usual mechanic says it’s the alternator, but he hasnt even looked at the car to see if there’s anything else potentially wrong, and I dont fancy taking the alternator off, sending it away, buying a new one, and then waiting for Bosch to tell me the alternators actually fine and then have a fight to get my money back. ANY advice welcome!!!
  7. I had something very similar - believe it or not it turned out to be the turbo. Repoaced the turbo after chucking money at all sorts of other things like cam magnets, injector cleaning, fuel pump tests, replacing fuel lines etc etc. have you checked if there is any play in the turbo shaft?
  8. Yeah cant disagree with that. Dropped off some alcohol for them too when i went to pay my bill and collect the car. car is back on the 14th and 15th for another oil change and dsg service
  9. And the saga is over. Picked up the car this morning and all is well. Back up in a few weeks for an oil service, gearbox service and then i’ll just drive it….. Massive thanks to ecotune for getting to the bottom of it and keeping me up to date with what was happening. Hope this helps anyone else with a similar issue in future!
  10. So it looks like the surclip that holds this part in place wasnt actually there in the first place on the turbo - rather than the part failing. Waiting for pics to come over from ecotune, but they’re happy with the turbo itself so i’m a little bit more relieved - however once i get the picture’s I need to have a chat to turboworks to ask about this missing surclip. Either way - the turbo was indeed the cause of the issue afterall. Hopefully get the car back tomorrow.
  11. I supplied the turbo to ecotune from turboworks myself so not warranty as such with ecotune, only with turboworks…..but the turbo is on the car, so it’s not going to be feasible to remove it to send it to them to investigate - unless they have concerns about the rest of the unit. Just waiting for the pictures coming from ecotune and a conversation with them whether the car is good to go now or not. It’s been a rough ride thats for sure.
  12. Update Reconditioned turbo ordered from turboworks last week, fitted to the car today and the misfire has now gone and the car is running perfect….however after a road test the car stopped boosting and it turns out that the bracket/pin that connects the actuator rod to the wastegate has failed….on the reconditioned turbo from turboworks. I’m fuming - and waiting for pictures from ecotune so I can get on to turboworks and ask them wtf’s going on. Ecotune are confident they can fix the issue, but for this to happen on a reconditioned turbo that looked brand new - i’m not filled with confidence on the turbo itself although they did check the turbo and there was no play or anything at all - so I can only hope this has been a complete one off. i’m just glad that after all the diagnostics that it has indeed been the turbo. Will post another update once i’ve got the car back and have spoken to turboworks…..
  13. Cheers - it’s something else it potentially could be. The turbo needs replaced anyway so that they can run the car without fear of anything falling off it and destroying my engine, so I can see from there.
  14. Who knows mate. As far as the message that was relayed to me basically said they couldnt get the parts for that turbo anymore from vw…… not entirely sure though because it’s an IHI turbo, not VW….so not sure what the deal is. Got a replacement turbo on the way so hopefully have this all sorted by next week. Hopefully.
  15. Theturboguy cant do anything with the is38 turbo apparently….not sure why when other turbo places can. Ecotune called them today for me and thats what they were told. loads of places around were quoting between 400-900 to refurb the turbo. i’ve ordered a fully refurbished is38 today with a 2 year warranty from turboworks and it should be arriving at ecotune tomorrow or friday. Original turbo will be taken off on tuesday, and the new one put on whenever they can….hopefully the same day. if that doesnt fix it - stan reckons the ecu could potentially be causing the misfire issue so they might test that if the issue persists after i have a good turbo fitted. In which case i’ll need to get another ecu and have it coded…… praying that it’s the turbo all along and thats the end of this saga.
