  1. So I've just come back from MRC Banbury, after having the full intake hardware fit treatment, including muffler delete, along with their Custom Stage 1 ECU and TCU remap. I can safely say I'm so impressed with the results. After intake stuff fitted Car sitting waiting to go on the Dyno, it was a fantastic day weather wise. Clear blue skies and sunny, but cold. Good for intake temps. Dyno Results Power wise, from stock run with intake hardware fitted, it made 323ps. After the 2nd dyno run following the remap, it made 395ps. To
  2. This is the brand new 76.0mm Golf R Mk7/7.5 Downpipe from BCS Powervalve... Following on from the demand for ultimate flow we have developed this with clients looking at up to 600 bhp in mind. Featuring the oversized 100 cell cat with an open area equivalent to an 93.0mm open pipe and the brand new 76.0mm 'Softflex' specifically developed with flow in mind having a genuine 76.0mm I.D. unlike previous 76.0mm flexis which only offer a 69,0mm I.D. To further compliment the downpipe both the catted and cat delete pipes will now be supplied with the 1200 degree titanium therma
  3. Hey all! I figured I’d start a topic for my lovely OPF 2020 Golf R! This topic is mainly to showcase the journey of my Golf R and encourage other Lapiz blue owners to share theirs! I’d like to welcome and share: 1. Car modification journey 2. Road trips/ scenic photographs 3. Any other Lapiz blue R related stuff! I want to share my cars modification journey (it’s currently completely stock) and have many ideas for build. I also plan to take my car around Europe and vlog it for YouTube- I’ll be sharing the journey of that too!
  4. Evening Folks hope your all doing okay. Decided to remove the JB1 from R and try a Revo Stage 1 remap. Car is standard except a drop in filter, turbo elbow and pipe (snow grate removed). Still running a pedal box too. The remap pulls harder through the rev range and there is more power at the top end than the jb1 gave. Its drives like factory but with a load more power. Is it worth 3 times the price of a used jb1.....quick answer for me is mmm yes. But different horses for different courses. It also came down the the garage doing the work - very experienced
  5. Hi, Im looking to remap my R 7.5 to stage 1. The car has a few mods including a chameleon grey wrap but its time for more power. What is the best stage 1 map out there for the price? I don't mind buying an air intake or downpipes etc. as long as the I can feel a decent upgrade in power/torque.
  6. Folks, keen to hear from those who have gone from Revo Stage 1 to 2 - have you been happy with it? Are you full fat with cooler? Did you get the TCU tune too? What about the lower torque mount? My plan is to go stage 2 next year but undecided between just a second hand DP and map or going the whole hog. I'm wanting to stick with Revo due to the local support near me. TIA
  7. Hi all, I’m new to golfs even though my missus has driven them for years ... bought my grey golf r 7.5 2 months ago.. apart from carbon fibre mirror covers and a set of gxr Matt black 19” alloys it’s still standard... rhinking of of a re-map and looking at unicorn or revo.. Forge induction kit next with an exhaust... can anyone give me pointers on the best exhaust please? The missus has a mk4 v6 4motion with miltech and it sounds great so I need an exhaust.... thanks for any advice
  8. Hi guys. I got an offer from my local Celtic Tuning for a stage 1 remap for 500 euros. Doesn't seem too bad, considering the 55hp increase. Anyone have any actual experiences with a Celtic Tuning remap installed? Is 355 hp too much for a 2.0L engine? Is it reliable? What do y'all think? Should I go for it, considering that the warranty has expired?
  9. We've updated the website to give a little more info on our Golf 7 Software. There is still much to do info wise but it's a start! https://www.unicornmotordevelopments.com/vw-golf-mk7-software-prices.html Rick
  10. Custom mapping (dyno) done on the Golf by Unicorn Motor Developments in Stockport. Car was running an email style map (Celtic tuning stage 1) when I got it and with the scorpion catted downpipe, TT inlet hose the car made a baseline run of 340HP / 390lb I asked Rick for following from the car: - Remove deadspot from the go pedal - More aggressive throttle mapping in all modes - NO pops and bangs - ECO mode to be running stock VW map with stock boost, just modified for the hardware changes which don't really effect running, ideal for motorway cruises as it wi
  11. Alrite guys, I'm thinking of taking my r down to mrc for a engine+dsg map but does anyone know how long it takes as I'm coming from the midlands and it would depend if I dragged my missus down in her car with me, I know there's not a lot to do in Banbury lol, thanks
  12. As promised, please find my initial review of the MTM Cantronic Tune box which was installed today by Kim Collins at QS Tuning in Haywards Heath in the South-East (Kent). Picking MTM I collected my new Golf R at the end of December. By the time I came to collect I'd already pretty much decided I was going to have a tune or box done to improve the already excellent performance. This was mostly led by so many people on this and other forums extolling the difference and value for money of a stage 1. Like many on here I'm a bit of a Google animal and like to research everything to the N-t
  13. Main questions: - where does the 10 hp power increase comes from? Bigger turbo , other hardware changes or they just fiddled with the ECU software? - the DSG 7 speed transmission is the same they employed in the RS3? - is tuning potential changed in any way or stage1, 2 and so on will make no virtual difference between prefacelift and postfacelift?
  14. Was wondering if anyone on here has had a stage 1 map done by United motorsport? If so, how is it? What power did you get. Cheers
  15. Hi guys, I'm brand new as a member but i've been reading VWROC for some time now! I currently have a MK7 GTI in pearl black... It's a lovely car... But it was time for an upgRade! I placed an order for a 3door DSG R in Limestone Grey Metallic with a few other extras - should get here for the end of the year (just in time for the salt and snow! ) I was wondering what performance and exterior modifications you guys have made? My plan is: - ECS tuning drilled & slotted 2-piece, semi-floating brake rotors - VWR lowing springs - 10/15mm wheel spacers - 19" VWR 360 alloy wheels
  16. Hi guys, No doubt this has been asked a lot but wanted some advice from owners who have remapped their R's and are on PCP finance. Is there any knock on effect to the PCP finance agreement? I've heard all matter of stories about VW demanding all outstanding payments or seizing the vehicle?! Any truth to these?! I suspect the ECU warranty will be void and servicing may be tricky if VW's system flags up the remap but is there any way of detecting the modification if the ECU is flashed back to stock? Any suggestions or help would be appreciated, wealth of knowledge out there I'm sure! Lo

  18. Hi guys, This is my first post on here and it is about insurance on modified vehicles. I have been toying with the idea of getting a DTUK box after reading far too many reviews on the pros and cons of remaps and box's. Anyway, today I thought it would be best to check out how much my insurance would increase fitting a DTUK box. To my amazement I couldn't even get a quote. I am 23 years old with 4 years no claims with no incidents or penalties and I am guessing I cannot be the only whippersnapper on here wanting to fit a tuning box to an R. How has everyone else got around this iss
  19. Hi All, Waiting on delivery of my 2016 R which should be with me first week of January (just missed xmas). I'm super keen on a stage 1 but being a coward at the prospect of breaking my new and v expensive toy I've been looking at tunes / boxes that come with replacement powertrain warranty. Seems like this leaves me with a choice of Oettinger and MTM. Yes, I know that are expensive so no need to point it out, but certainly less expensive than a new Engine and DSG in the unlikely event it went bad. My question is this: MTM and QS Tuning (Kim Collins) seem to have been around forev
  20. Hey all, I wanted to do a quick review of the Revo Stage 1 map I got recently. I have already done 100 miles on the car already since the map. Bit of a story first: I have a history of modifying cars. I have changed pretty much everything on all my previous cars and when I decided this Golf R was the one I wouldn't mess with, I kept my word for a few months until now. I absolutely LOVE the Golf R in standard form. I love how the DSG works and how comfy and refined the car is so when my local Revo dealer contacted me direct I was a bit hesitant. I didn't want to ruin the ride et
  21. As I am thinking of getting my car remapped, I rang my insurance company (esure) in advance to find out how much it would cost. I was pleasantly surpirsed to be told that I could up the power by upto 30% for just £41 for the remaining 4 months of my policy. Also, that if i didnt go the full 30% power increase then it could be even cheaper. I was quite surpirsed that it was this cheap given that esure arent a specialist insurance company for modified cars.
  22. Probably asked a million times already but I am going to get a stage 1 remap done but can't decide on revo or apr!! Anyone help tip my opinion to one side??
  23. Has anyone had a dsg remap done on there r?? If so what do you think of it and where was it done?
  24. I see a thread all too often in pretty every forum I've been a member of. Tuning box vs Remap or Remap n Tuning box vs Warranty. Lets be clear, if either is found out to have caused engine failure your warranty will be void. It maybe easier to unplug a tuning box but the likelihood of a tuning box causing issues in the first place are higher. Anyway, my point in this thread will be to log any issues by any member from either a remap or tuning box. This will be to include any engine fault codes, be it causing the car to go in limp mode or the hidden codes only shown when check
