  1. Evening folks, 2019 Golf R 7.5 opf Got the jb1 installed this afternoon. Once car was jacked and undertray removed all fitted in 10 mins with the only fiddly bit being the cam sensor (i think) total swine to get to. Car started first time with no error codes thrown. Idles same as std and all sounded good. Went for first little drive - about 5 miles and felt a bit underwhelmed. Got out switched off car for minute or so while went to shop. Got back it and drove 30 through town to the bypass. WOT on slip ramp in second and boom! No not the turbo go
  2. I had the Powervalve cat back with the carbon round trims fitted to my R on Thursday along with the Racechip tuning box by the thoroughly nice guys at BCS. I am absolutely made up with the end result after having the weekend to play around on some of the roads in north Wales. The cat back exhaust is perfect for what I was looking for - absolutely no drone at all - you can hardly tell it has anything fitted when driving sedately or on the motorway (which unfortunately we do a lot of) however when its time to play and you get the chance to put your foot down the exhaust sounds incredible
  3. Hi guys, This is my first post on here and it is about insurance on modified vehicles. I have been toying with the idea of getting a DTUK box after reading far too many reviews on the pros and cons of remaps and box's. Anyway, today I thought it would be best to check out how much my insurance would increase fitting a DTUK box. To my amazement I couldn't even get a quote. I am 23 years old with 4 years no claims with no incidents or penalties and I am guessing I cannot be the only whippersnapper on here wanting to fit a tuning box to an R. How has everyone else got around this iss
  4. Hi All, Waiting on delivery of my 2016 R which should be with me first week of January (just missed xmas). I'm super keen on a stage 1 but being a coward at the prospect of breaking my new and v expensive toy I've been looking at tunes / boxes that come with replacement powertrain warranty. Seems like this leaves me with a choice of Oettinger and MTM. Yes, I know that are expensive so no need to point it out, but certainly less expensive than a new Engine and DSG in the unlikely event it went bad.   5. I see a thread all too often in pretty every forum I've been a member of. Tuning box vs Remap or Remap n Tuning box vs Warranty. Lets be clear, if either is found out to have caused engine failure your warranty will be void. It maybe easier to unplug a tuning box but the likelihood of a tuning box causing issues in the first place are higher. Anyway, my point in this thread will be to log any issues by any member from either a remap or tuning box. This will be to include any engine fault codes, be it causing the car to go in limp mode or the hidden codes only shown when check
