Looking to buy a Golf R Mk7 estate in the next few weeks. Have been looking at two 66 plates - both reg October 16. One Black with 58k miles - and 2 prev owners One White 46k miles - and 4 prev owners. both FSH. should I be worried about the number of owners the 46k miler has had - judging by the service stamps and garage locations the last owner maybe only had it a year. The dealer did advise that with the performance cars you tend to find they have had multiple owners as invariably people swap due to the mpg or they’re petrol heads and want the next fast car. Does this ring true ? Would I be safer going for the higher miler but fewer owners. Thanks

Hi everyone, apologies if this isn't the right place -but It would be good to get a second opinion as I might be paranoid. I've seen a 2019 R for sale at VW dealer in Taunton, it has 19K miles and is generally very nice condition. It stood out as it's quite well equipped with leather seats, keyless entry, 19" black Pretorias. One of the wheels was bent (which i'm learning is pretty common) so I didn't see much point test driving it on a space saver. So the first thing that jumped out was the car has had 3 owners, when I dug a bit deeper the dealer informed me that it had been an ex demonstrator at dealership 00773 (which I assume is a VW code). It's then had two owners, I don't have the detail of how long each one had it etc as of yet. This has put me off a bit as the natural assumption is that it's it hasn't be cared for as you would want, or ragged to death. I had an appointment to see it this morning, unfortunately I couldn't make it. When I called up to re-arrange the salesman offered to bring it down to Bristol for me to look at...I might just be paranoid but that strikes me as they can't wait to sell it! The car comes with the 2 year unlimited mileage warranty etc - but i'd be interested what other peoples thoughts. Not sure if it's ok to post the ad link here, so i'll hold off. Thanks

Hi all, Given that VW aren't taking any new orders for the moment and I want my R now, I've decided to head down the second hand route. Whoohoo. I am not particularly mechanically minded (and cars are so complex these days) but is there anything mechanical or electrical about the R that you would recommend looking for when buying a second hand one? Are there any particular issues with the R, for instance, that if you spotted on a second hand one, you would run a mile? Looking for a DSG estate in particular. Regards, Will
