  1. Hi guys and girls just thought I’d share a couple of Images of my Golf R and the progress. I’ve owned the car since jan 2018 and since then I’ve added a Maxton design rear spoiler, black wrapped the chrome grille and bumper inserts. Replaced the vw badges with black and white badges. Swapped the chrome mirror caps to black and changed from 18” candiz wheels to 19” Pretoria reps in gunmetal with Goodyear eagle F1 accemetric 3 tyres. Next plans include stage one apr map and dsg map. R600 intake and Emanuel emmotion lowering springs.
  2. I bought a used car with an automatic transmission (DSG) a few days ago. It has 245k km on it. Today while driving I realized that DSG seems to be slipping when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. It revs a bit higher before shifting. It revs like 100-300rpm higher and then shifts. I also hear it from the engine when it revs higher. I tested the DSG in M mode and it shifts perfectly without revving Higher than expected. What could possibly be cousing this? Here is a video while it does it: https://imgur.com/gallery/gB1fPcn
  3. Hello all, I am stage 1 ECU/TCU tuned with R-Tech and the gearbox is acting a little strange when I hit the loud pedal. Sometimes when I boot it in 1st, it climbs through the rev range and wants to hesitate when changing into second gear and holds back for a split second, then changes gear and off it goes through the rev range like nothings wrong. Its also done this a couple of times going from 2nd to 3rd. This is usually done in Race mode and gearbox in S. Both manual and auto mode. Any one come across this type of thing before? Also when plodding around car parks or town, when i'm at around 2-10mph it likes to increase up on the revs all on its own when coasting. Only very marginal but it likes to 'hang on' (best way to describe it). Quite a difficult one to explain, but if you've encountered the same thing, you'll know exactly what im on about. All advice welcome, Cheers.
  4. Afternoon, 67 plate DSG R is short shifting in manual from 3rd to 4th at around 4,500 rpm intermittently. Master tech at local VW dealer took car out, experienced the fault and immediately said it was an issue / error and that diagnostics would have to be plugged in during one of these short shifts and the data 'sent off' to VW for them to advise. Fast forward 2 weeks, the car is in, master tech is on holiday, another technician is handling the car. After 3 days I call and they say VW have said: 1: It is a normal traction control feature. 2: The technician didn't send off any data that included a short shift, just general gearbox diagnostics data during a normal run. I now seem like the bad guy with the local dealer for suggesting the technician hasn't done what the master technician asked to be done and 2, I am being told that a short shift in manual is a perfectly normal safety feature? Advice on both would be appreciated. If I am wrong I am wrong, just want to know. Cheers.
  5. Hi everyone, I'm having an issue and it's not doing my blood pressure any good! I've got a mk7 R on 51k miles. It's been tuned by MRC, stage 1 high torque. The gearbox has an issue. In drive (not sport/race or manual) the gears are rough. On the upshifts, they're smooth if gentle acceleration however if i try to accelerate hard the gears slam into gear. On the downshifts, it's uncomfortable, i feel every gear change. It's worse in the lower gears but is there with all of them. If i'm in race or manual mode, generally i don't feel any issues, but i do feel it occasionally. I took it back to MRC, hoping it was the gearbox TCU, however they put the car back to standard and it's still doing it, which means there's an underlying issue. Doug at MRC spent a long time doing the gearbox adaptations which hasn't made it any better. I asked Doug why it would be mainly fine in manual or sport and he's said there's more revs, more power going through etc with more clamping pressure etc... I have to say, i'm impressed by Doug and his team, all looks very professional. They're saying it's going to be either the clutch packs needs replacing or the mechatronics unit. However, i'm 22, and spent years saving for my R, as it was my dream, so i haven't the money to start replacing everything in the hope it fixes it. I'm absolutely gutted at this point, genuinely. MRC, and myself, are leading more towards the clutch pack needing replacement, but i'm wondering if any of you could guide me in the right direction? I'd really appreciate any advice.
  6. Just picked up my 2014 MK7 R in Tornado Red. It’s a 5door DSG with Vienna Leather and sitting on VWR springs.
  7. Good evening all, Firstly, I’ve finally decided to bite the bullet and buy myself a Mk7 Golf R after 4/5 months of searching. The car is a 65 plate with 30000 miles in Limestone Grey with every optional extra except ‘Lane Assist’. The reason for the thread is that during a test drive I noticed a clunk coming from the brake pedal when I released my foot. It seemed occasional although it was very easy to reproduce. I’m slightly concerned with this although the salesman told me it’s normal and happens on them all. Any advice on this issue would be greatly appreciated; is this normal and am I being paranoid or is there something underlying that needs addressing? I have tried searching but found nothing similar to my issue. Many thanks in advance! Callam
  8. Hi. It's super hard to find any real life comparisons between dsg6 and dsg7 (i suppose thats dq380). Just ordered and gti 7.5 with a dsg6. But now considering going performance pack that comes with dsg7. I'm now on dsg7 dry (dq200) it's sucks..so slow to react and kind of boring, probably thats why i Test drove a new mk7.5 with a dsg6 (dealer didn't have dsg7 in stock). Are here any ppl that had dsg6 and now moved to new dsg7? Is it any better in terms of from still to full throttle latency, shifting faster, any ways better? Sorry if this place is a wrong place to post. I think its a same box that is in new R and also comes with 1.5 evo engines. Greetings from Finland!
  9. Hi All, Im really hoping someone can help. Yesterday i bought a 2010 VW GOLF R MK 6 AUTO DSG. When going for a test drive and inspecting the car it all seemed fine. My first issue came when i dropped my friend off that came with me. As i was leaving his driveway, i went to put it in reverse and at that point it gave me an error with an exclamation mark saying gearbox was overheated. I turned the car off and then started it again and seemed fine. I reversed out and went home. At some stage i got a solid engine light appear on my dash. Today, i dropped my mum off somewhere and when putting it in reverse, it wouldnt select the gear and let me reverse, nor would it let me select drive either. I restarted the car and that seemed to then let me reverse and select my gears. At this point the engine light was still showing. I took the car to my mechanic to do a check of the car as i just got it and to show this issue i was having. As i was driving to my mechanic, about 15 hours after the initial light appeared, the light went away by itself. He ran the OBD scans throughout the whole car and only found one code - "P2711 - Unexpected / Implausible Mechanical Gear Disengagement", which was cleared because he checked the DSG and it seemed fine as the drive is smooth and the oil was good. We also discovered it could be from aggressive driving which i dont believe i was doing as i have been taking it easy. When i got home, i went to the gym awhile later, as i was trying to reverse out of my driveway, the same issue occurred where it wouldnt select reverse or any other gear so i had to restart the car to get it to select reverse and the light is appearing again. Im really not sure what is happening at this point and starting to think this may be a gearbox issue after all. Is anyone able to shed some light on this? Kindest Regards, Liborio - Sydney

  11. Hi Guys, I'm about to change the Haldex oil in my car- and I'm looking for the replacement fill/drain plugs and a few other bits. Most internet searches are coming up with US sites or ridiculous shipping charges. Can anyone recommend some place that's good for these kinds of items in the UK/Europe 1- Haldex fluid 850ml: G-060-175-A2 (x1)2- Drain plug: N-910-827-01 (x1)3- Fill Plug: N-902-818-02 (x1) 4- Pump o-rings and bolts kit 0CQ-598-305 : Thanks, Dan
  12. Hi all, just picked up my MK7 facelift R and I’m loving it so far! At the stage now where I’m just seeing what happens in different modes and I noticed that when in Eco all the gears show with an E infront of the gear numbers. However I’ve noticed if you leave the car in Eco and turn off the engine then turn the engine back on again the gears now show with a D infront of them even though the car is still in Eco when you go into modes? To get E to show again I have to press the mode button until it gets back to Eco. Forgive me if I’m being stupid but is this normal and if so can anybody explain why this happens? Thanks
  13. Does anyone have a Res delete fitted on a Mk7.5 DSG. I was wondering if drone was an issue with the new 7 speed box. I know the BSC res delete will stop any drone but when they are nearly 3x the price of a standard delete, if the 7 speed fixes this I know what I will be choosing! Many thanks!!
  14. Afternoon everyone, As the title says my car is coming up to 3 years old and 30,000 miles. Having read a few threads so far I'm led to believe at this mileage I should be getting a standard service done on the car but also get both the DSG and Haldex fluid changed at the same time, does that sound about right? I'm also based in the Newcastle area and am looking for garage recommendations. I've seen a few for Revolution, Swift and Automotive Solutions in Peterlee. Are these still the best in the area? At my last service the quote from Swift came in at the same price as Lookers @ Silverlink so I'm not sure if they are going to be competitive enough for an independent specialist. Peterlee is a little trek down the road but if they are decent it'll be worth the trip. As for Revolution I know they've been around a while but I don't know what their pricing is like..... Any help / info appreciated.
  15. Hi guys bought my 1st golf r last week. Picked it up on Monday. Loving in so far. 2016 model year 65 plate. Oyrx white 3dr dsg, Dcc, winter pack, folding mirrors. I’m based in east anglia. Looking forward to chatting to some of you thanks Daniel
  16. A couple of times recently when I've (almost) floored the accelerator with DSG in Sport mode, the car (exhaust I think) made a strange low frequency sound for a second before it changed down and accelerated Is this normal? I think the DSG box is confused as it was accelerating hard and then slowing down before accelerating hard again which I can understand but I'm not sure about the noise. More of a DSG burp than DSG fart.
  17. Few photos of my R ..haven’t done anything to it since I picked it up last year in May..1 owner and full history just done 13k miles..normally with me cars only last about 6 months and I get bored and change (57 and counting) but for some reason I’m keen on hanging onto it for a while...just not getting bored, normally I’d start modding straight away but I’ve had a lot on in the past year and just haven’t had the time to do it.. thats going to change.. first thing was was to wake up the turbo noise... intake time.. I went for the open Integrated Engineering set up from the lovely guys at Regal 👍 yep I know it won’t make anymore power but it sounds nice and I love the re-circ noise you get when you come off throttle 😁 Next will be a set of wheels I’m currently waiting for delivery on .. I spotted a white R on google images with these on only to find out it was a member of the R32 owners club that I’d met a few years ago at a meet at Bruntingthorpe..I’ve gone for 19” Gmp Italia Atoms. Hi Stefan88👍 Next up up will be springs (probably Eibach as the roads round here are shocking) ..then res delete and probably a JB4.. then some bodywork stuff..don’t think I’ll go Maxton will probably look at Triplercomposites well that’s the story so far.. look forward to getting your options and useful knowledge 👍
  18. What's going on with the dsg when in eco mode on coast ing to a halt? It feels like it's braking using the box (Sorry wrong forum)

Hi, Looking at potentially getting into an RS3 and toying with the idea of selling my Golf. The car is a 2015 plate with 16k miles. It does not have any optional extras other than factory equipment. I have just replaced the two front tyres with Goodyear Eagle F1s, waiting to get stock for the rear. Was serviced when I bought it around 6 months ago and service book stamped. Car is completely stock, unmodified and hasn't been remapped (no JB1 or JB4 or DTUK). £20,000 open to offers although I challenge you to find one with similar miles and DSG for the price. Edit: OFFERS OVER £18,750 CONSIDERED (TRADE IN PRICE - GOING TO TRADE END OF WEEK)

    £18,750.00

Hi guys, quick question, this is my first DSG car and noticed when ever the car is coming to a stop it revs a little high between 1000 to 2000 before idling? is this normal as iv'e never experienced this with any autos i have had many thanks!
  21. As title, Had my 7.5r estate 3 weeks now and at 2000 miles I thought I would treat it to its first launch. Pulled amazingly off the line and then when changing into second there was a nasty thud... it did just carry on doing its thing and when going into third it wasn't as smooth as I predicted... Carried on about my business and had a little hoon dropping through gears etc and everything seems fine. I tried launch again and it was perfect and smooth throughout gears... Not sure wether to be worried as such..? could it have been to do with surface?? (even though it was just normal dry tarmac ) Was hoping to get it tuned in future but think I may have to avoid that now in case something is a miss.
  22. Hello VWROC! Picking up my 2015 VW Golf R DSG on Friday and couldn't be happier with my choice. After years of mediocre JDM cars I've decided to treat myself to something a little more special! I've been an active member of every car marque forum relevant to my car history thus far and intend on being an integral part of this one too! I already have a few plans for the R, starting small with a lip kit (triplercomposites kit looks tasty) all the way up to potentially a stage 2 within the next few years of ownership. All advice on tasteful modifications are welcome! If you see me around don't hesitate to give me a honk and a wave, the car will probably be under the reg plate guise of G2EEY. 😀
  23. So... I finally got the nod on Tuesday this week, to go and collect her. Wow... what a car. This is my first R, but not my first golf. Although the less said about the Mk3 8v GTI the better. Anyway... Finally managed to tear myself out of the driving seat today and give her a quick wash for some quick snaps. Probably a bit of a marmite colour, not everyone's gonna love it... but I do.
  24. Howdy folks, My name is Sam and I am a proud owner of a one of a kind Black Golf 7R, DSG with 5 Doors. I have named her Raven (I have my reasons ) Bit of background: I upgraded from a Mk5 GTI that was running a Stage 2+ Tune from R-Tech. My previous build thread (picture heavy) can be found here: http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,92146.0.html I test drove a 7R at the start of 2016 and had my heart set on one ever since. However, I was too picky and wanted the exact specification I had in mind. Luckily I soon found the previous owner and have closely followed the development of this car from stock. I finally took ownership at the end of 2016. And needless to say...what a machine... To put things into perspective 2011 GT-R R35: 523HP, 451LBFT, 1740KG 2014 Raven: 550HP, 556LBFT, 1401KG In her base form, she's a top spec Japanese Import 7R (2014 model). Factory spec includes: - 5 Door DSG in DBP - DCC (now swapped with VWR Coilies) - Discover Nav Pro with Reverse Camera - Sunroof - Keyless Entry - Black Leather interior with fully electric driver's seat adjustment - Lane Assist, Light Assist and all the other trimmings such as ACC etc I do not have the mods list compiled - its' a big list.. so for now, enjoy some pictures. Feel free to follow my Insta @sam.7r for recent updates. LOADS of changes have been made since I've taken ownership and there are plenty more in the pipeline. So stay tuned.. Most of the changes I've made are related to suspension, chassis, wheels, audio and some performance. There's few cosmetic bits too. I will continue to update this thread as and when I can.. 25. Hello VWROC! This Friday (23rd) I'll be collecting this gorgeous Night Blue Golf R from Parkways VW in Leicester. Spec wise it's fairly basic unfortunately... no satnav, no DCC, no sunroof. It does have a few nice extras like a reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors (not sure if all Rs have this?) and most importantly to me, those Pretorias coupled with the Night Blue paint! 😍 To describe my car history very briefly, this will be my first non-JDM car! 3 x Toyota Corollas including the T-Sport Compressor (290bhp to the front wheels, had some traction issues!), 1 x Track Civic EP3 and 2 x Honda Accords which have been my latter 2 cars! Parkways VW have been excellent so far! I have been dealing with a lovely lass called Gemma who has been sending me regular emails with pictures (of the car!) as it's been prepped to the Das Welt Auto standard and had imperfections and defects rectified such as kerbing to 3 of the alloys courtesy of the last owner! Any queries have been answered promptly and the whole experience has been pretty smooth which has been nice! I must admit that I've been stalking the forum for the last month or so whilst searching for the right car to pop up and have learnt so much already, thank you! I already have a few plans for the car such as the triplercomposites lip kit and a bloody good detail as I know the dealer has given the car a valet (swirl marks ahoy!) In the long term I'd like to take the car up to around a safe 400bhp through the means of a stage 2 and other upgrades. Any advice or suggestions for tasteful modifications both performance and non-performance would be greatly appreciated! Suppose I better add a few pics! (2010 Honda "Henry" Accord Type-S is the trade in mule) (The exhaust tips were polished up as I made it known that I wasn't happy with their standard shown in the other pictures and Parkways VW were on the case immediately!)
