Hi All, Buying a new Golf R (deposit down, still need to view it), first time every buying a performance car so would really appreciate so guidance! The car is a 2019 Golf R in Indium Grey, 19" Prets, DCC & Progressive steering. Car has covered 18k miles with 2 previous owners, it will be used approved from VW (2yr warranty) and is costing £28.5k. Is this a good buy? I plan on selling it after a year and a half, how much depreciation will I be looking at? Is there any questions I should ask or anything to be warned about please? I want to get a back box delete at some point later as because it has a PPF it sounds quieter and is only 300bhp instead of 310, will this reduction in bhp be THAT noticeable? Also want to get the alloys sprayed black as they look nicer with the grey. Any help or suggestions would be great folks! Thank you

Hi Everyone, This is Sean-Paul from Sydney, Australia :) I bought this Golf R mk 7.5 Special Edition in August of 2020. Thought I would begin a build log of everything I've done and future plans with this build. I picked up this car for $50,900 with 13,800 kms on the clock from a dealer down south of Sydney. The car already had an APR stage 1 high torque tune flashed before I got the car. I will list prices in AUD (mods are expensive down here) Car Spec: Turmeric yellow | 7-Speed DSG (DQ381) | DCC | Dynaudio | Gloss black 19 Pretorias |ACC |Akrapovic Exhaust |GTI Clubsport brakes Modding List Performance: - Leyo Cold Air Intake - $699.00 - Leyo Turbo Inlet - $250 - X-Force Res Delete - $250 Software: - APR stage 1 High Torque - Came with car - TVS stage 3 DSG tune - $2099 Interior: - Leyo Cold Air Intake - $699.00 - Leyo Air Con Rings - $70 - OBD11 colour options enabled Chassis: - APR Dogbone Insert - $90 - Michelin Pilot Sport 4S - $1300 Braking: - GTI Clubsport brakes - drilled rotors Exterior: -Maxton Design Full Body Kit - $1300 -Blacked out badges - $125 Mods Cost: Total: $6662.00 Future Plans for the car include a Super Pro rear sway bar, downpipe, intercooler and a retune to Flex E85 with fueling upgrades. I’d like to welcome and share: 1. Car modification journey 2. Road trips/ scenic photographs 3. Any other Lapiz blue R related stuff! I want to share my cars modification journey (it’s currently completely stock) and have many ideas for build. I also plan to take my car around Europe and vlog it for YouTube- I’ll be sharing the journey of that too! ALL LAPIZ BLUE MK7/7.5 OWNERS WELCOME! (Sorry to other colors haha, All Golf R’s are lovely regardless what colour but this one is for my Lapiz people!) My car Instagram: @AceGolfR 😎😁 Follow me & share your Lapiz! #shareyourlapiz

Hi guys, Been lurking for a number of months and thought I'd get around to joining and posting as it seems like a pretty good forum. I've been looking to upgrade my Mk 7 Highline for a while now (2.5 years into a 3 year lease) and while its been a great car, for someone who is a bit more used to performance it's a little dull and I'd like to jump into something a bit more sporty. I had always envisaged getting into a S3, but after sitting in one and getting pricing on them I was put off a little - my current Golf was just as good imo and the general consensus is the current R is a better drivers car anyway, so I quickly moved over to setting my sights on a R as a replacement after test driving it a couple of times. I've since recently had the opportunity to take out a M140i for a spin and was mostly impressed. I've driven it twice - first time I was basically 'this is for me' as the engine/transmission combo, and last weekend I took it out for an hour in back country Victoria. The second drive i was less impressed - while the engine, sound and transmission combo are great, I was less impressed by some really minor things (steering wheel seems pretty cheap and I found the dash a bit hard to read sometimes. I also questioned whether the power was really that sensible as in Australia we have very strict road rules and basically going above 100k/hr anywhere is going to land you in trouble. I did think Idrive was pretty good though, and I won't go into looks as that is a very subjective thing =). I like RWD cars too (who doesn't!) but I feel that the R is probably a bit more sensible as it sometimes does get a bit wet here. Additionally, the interior of the M140i feels a bit more last gen, but tbh I don't think that's going to bother me too much. So my question to you all is - have any of you had the M140i previously, did you cross shop with the current 7.5 R and what lead you to your decision? The pricing is very similar here in Australia - basically you can get a fully loaded R for about 60kAU, and the M140i (loaded up with the important options, we get adaptive suspension standard here) is about 64k. I can't say which way I'm leaning towards - I'm truly on the fence with this one! And yes, I realise that I will get a very skewed response here in a R forum, and realise this topic has been covered a great deal already, but I still like to see what people think, particularly with the 7.5 being reasonably new.
