  1. Hi All, Buying a new Golf R (deposit down, still need to view it), first time every buying a performance car so would really appreciate so guidance! The car is a 2019 Golf R in Indium Grey, 19" Prets, DCC & Progressive steering. Car has covered 18k miles with 2 previous owners, it will be used approved from VW (2yr warranty) and is costing £28.5k. Is this a good buy? I plan on selling it after a year and a half, how much depreciation will I be looking at? Is there any questions I should ask or anything to be warned about please? I want to get a back box delete at some point later as because it has a PPF it sounds quieter and is only 300bhp instead of 310, will this reduction in bhp be THAT noticeable? Also want to get the alloys sprayed black as they look nicer with the grey. Any help or suggestions would be great folks! Thank you
  2. I've never had a new car before, always bought used. I bought a new Golf 7R back in June that's now done approx 4.5k miles. As the title says, how long before the engine really loosens up and its fully run in etc. Just curious. Delighted with the car so far, but just wondered if the new engine starts to feel any better in time, does fuel consumption improve at all?
  3. So I'm looking to buy a golf 7r I'm just wondering what to expect for my money?? I'm looking to spend £25k but was wanting a sunroof, uprated sound system, dsg and leather. I'm not sure what else there is really whether they come with different size screens satnavs or whatever else. Any help would be much appreciated Thanks Sean Ps I like this but it's out my price range. Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121956439398
  4. Or , as the delivery date approaches , does everyone agonise about the decision made ? And more than that actually start looking again at alternatives ? In the last two weeks or so I have looked @ 1. The BMW M235i Got a spec, got a build slot available for march delivery, got a discounted price that is pretty much what the R will cost me. Rejected it after 2 agonising days (sorry GF ...) ultimately because I think my BMW owning days are done for now. and aren't BMW's really common on the road? 2. The facelift Mercedes-AMG A45. Configured one , found they offer a frozen grey finish AND the option to have all the red stitching and cabin features removed , AND adaptive ride (not available on pre-facelift cars) . Went to my local dealer yesterday afternoon, chatted with a very friendly sales guy, test drove the pre-facelift just for comparison vs. the RS, have a possible build slot in January for 1st March delivery ... BUT - it would be about £8k more than the R (in frozen grey spec). Is it £8k more car ??? I am not sure..... I may have to drive the facelift car and find out for sure !! It's not just about performance and bhp - its about the WAY the car drives from the dealer forecourt 5mph to the 70mph (ish) of a dual carriageway. Confused of Dorset - maybe only 8 weeks to make up my mind !! I wish sometimes that the internet was not such a wonderful place for doing research
  5. Hi all, First time poster here. Not sure if this is necessarily the right place to post this, apologies if not. Coming up to new car time now, Mid Feb order date, and I'm stuck between the M135i and the Golf R. Have test driven both and to be honest both are exceptional cars in their own right. For me its essentially going to come down to the price. Have been on the BabyBMW forums and got a quote from a resident dealer over there of £1500 down and £320 pcm on a PCP deal (with a couple of optional extras chucked in). I am just wondering if any of you knowledgable folk know if I am likely to get a better deal than this on the Golf? Either lease or PCP, not bothered either way. Lastly, what are people's feelings on living with the Golf? Does the power still excite after having it for a while? Thanks in advance! Sam
