As a serial forum lurker, personally I think he/she is brilliant. Nothing harmful or malicious, never retaliates, just some tongue-in-cheek humour.

Read his comments, laugh, move on. I don't see anything wrong with it - in fact I think it adds a bit of character, to quite frankly, a few dull/boring/repetitive threads.

As the saying goes "there's dignity in silence"

Funnily I brought up this very subject with the forum management recently.

A lot of users come on and post stuff. Some of it is the usual repetitive stuff like "red or blue", "which wheels", "manual or DSG" or "what's the best remap" etc etc - the sort of stuff that a quick search would throw up countless results for because it has been discussed to death. Some of what is posted on here, like other forums, is useful, some of it is technical, some of it is either chat, banter, discussions, debates or simple garbage.

As a mod, I have removed content which has been uncalled for after R400 posts because it was either uncalled for or a blatant personal attack. Another user seems to attract similar attention and I have done the same for them too.

I don't doubt that R400 may have posted stuff others disagree with - after all this is a public forum. I have been involved in tuner debates myself on other forums and no doubt there are some out there that have no time for me as a result.

At the end of the day, we all have opinions and make decisions, informed or not, to suit. Whether or not R400 has a Golf R is irrelevant being honest, and if he likes DSG over manual too, that's great, and also irrelevant. If someone doesn't like his opinion or what he posts, they can ignore him.

If any post made on this forum by any user goes against forum rules, any user can report it and a Mod or Admin will review it and take the necessary steps up from removing offending content to warning or banning the offending forum user.

Personally, I have yet to see anything R400 has said/posted that warrants the abuse he receives and it is for that reason I agree that the bigger challenge is those who heckle and abuse as it brings the tone of the place down.

That's my 2p's worth anyway. Will watch this thread with interest.

If you come on here specifically to make comments to insult others for your own pleasure, expect to be insulted/slated back, be it r400 or anyone else. People offended by such ludicrous posts can't be blamed for what's effectively sticking up for themselves or opinions. It's a forum not  North Korea, so surely you can fight your corner fairly without fear of being banned or shot

That's my point - I haven't seen him baiting anyone or doing anything against the rules and I haven't seen any reports of it either.

I guess something must happen or there wouldn't be an issue. Luckily, my life prevents me from spending all my spare time on here looking at every post in every thread

Guys, if you don't like what R400 posts just put him on your ignore list. It really is that simple. I agree with FBF to some extent about being able to defend your opinion but not at the expense of ruining every thread R400 posts in.

I've just seen another thread derailed by two individuals who hardly have any posts fishing for likes. One of the posts ironically 'liked' by one member who claims to be hard done by on a regular basis.

It takes a man to suffer ignorance and smile.
