Mk7 R - How to replace white footwell LED's with blue LED's

Are you still using the light units you took out of the footwells?  Or did you purchase different light units (the light housing) as well as LEDs?    This particular mod in this thread requires you to replace the light housing with another kind (see post #1) and then fit the blue LEDs in those.  However if you are still using the original footwell units that’s why your new LEDs (if they are the kind shown in post #1) don’t fit.  

 

Since this thread was created, it became apparent that you can actually open the original oem housing (it wasn’t thought possible at first) and replace the light.  You’d have to source the replacement light bit though as shown in your deautokey pic.  See vid in here 

 

Also since this thread, whole blue replacent units (housing and bulb) have become available on eBay, so a plug and play option.  Detailed also in this thread. Link here to those
