Thanks guys.

Try swapping wheels front to back (and back to front) to see if it moves to the rear.  If it doesn't it might be a warped disk (or pad deposits on a disk).

Next quick question, How can I do this with two jacks?! 😂

mccol is spot on with his advice ^

Even if you only had one jack you can still do it by using your spare as a temporary holder.  It just takes a bit more time and effort: take a back wheel off, put your spare on the back, take the front wheel off, put the wheel that was on the back on the front, take the spare off the back and replace it with the wheel that was on the front; repeat the exercise on the other side of the car.

Would VW alloys on a VW need spigot rings? I mean, would standard Golf R Spielbergs need them, given they are on an R?

There are plenty of fakes out there that look like originals, and it’s only when you remove them you know for sure they’re VW’s own.

Time to tidy up the engine bay.

Can anyone confirm this Front Engine Cover is the correct one for the R and how many mounting bolts I’ll need to fit it.

Thanks

Yes that’s the right one.  Have a look at this thread Strawbs.
