Haldex Service, Dsg Service and Major service.

Recommended Posts

Took my R mk7 to Vag Manchester for Haldex, Dsg and major service current mileage is 18k, getting ready for stage 2 remap in future. I cannot believe how clogged Haldex pump can be. Haldex service done. Mark is top guy highly recommended. More updates will follow. 263bd68f6700569b5ffc2a016841d68f.jpgf443fb2de3133604ccdfe4f81898bac5.jpg998edd799e423cf97ccd4ddda66605ba.jpg577bbac833b8705e647ab1651f2f0cd4.jpg323f0f9f20c13051fdf565bd80593a63.jpg499f74697c28aabf820e2734e2042eb9.jpge65a5f09dc10ee121957d60e8ef550d6.jpg

Just out of interest, is the service that is due at 20,000 miles meant to be a major service? Only ask because I have just completed 30,000 miles and so far I have had three services all of which seem to be just oil changes from VW??

I'm a bit confused now, so my car was due a major at 20k but VW have only changed the oil... why would they do that?? I know they said first three services are free, but if 20k is a major then how do they get away with just changing the oil?? how and where does that leave my car 10k miles later??? I'm a bit concerned now...

Yep.

I too have just had the 20,000 mile service, which was Inspection and oil change. £225 inc. As far as I’m aware it’s not meant to be a major service. It’s on long life but had an oil change and inspection service at 4000 miles when I bought it.

Inspection service is another name for a major service in the normal service schedule, at fixed time or mileage points certain other things need doing but these do not form part of the standard service routine, eg. Haldex, Brake Fluid. DSG etc for which you have to pay extra.

Minor service is just an oil and filter service, Major service is the same but added pollen filter and a good look round for issues to see if they can find anything they can charge you for - sorry to make sure the car is in perfect order

I see. So when does Haldex, DSG etc get serviced?

There is NO time limit on the DSG service - 6 speed version do not know about the new 7 speed - just serviced every 40k miles, I have a confirmation Email from VAG to confirm this.

Its 30,000 miles or 3 years which ever comes first for the Haldex pump. Its 40,000 miles or 4 years for the dsg gearbox.

I would never stick to the vw intervels. I had my dsg and haldex oil changed at 26k and the haldex pump was disgusting.

My local Indy recommended getting each done either 20000 miles or every 24 month.

Isn't it also likely different for fixed vs variable servicing? If I remember correctly, the book implies you choose on purchase which is most suitable.

I had mine in for its 3rd year service and asked about dsg and haldex ? . They showed me on their computer 3 years or 30,000 for the haldex.  4 years or 40,000 for dsg. My car is 64 reg and I extended the warranty to 5 years from new, so following vw recommendations for servicing .To keep my warranty right. I will not be at the mileage so just the time 3&4 years.
