Hi All

I am new to the forum - so hello and thanks in advance for help!

I have got a G7R DSG...and looking at spending some  ££ on stage 3 upgrades...its completely standard at the moment..and aiming for 500bhp…

I tried to pick up bits and pieces from the previous threads - so apologies if I am going over very old ground! But would appreciate feedback on below!

Engine – Thinking of the below, sure I have missed something..so anything else I may be missing would be appreciated.

- TTE525R (MRC Tuned)

- WR Racingline R600 Air Intake

- Wagner Competition Intercooler

- Autotech HPFP

- Muffler Delete

- GFB DV+

- Forged Engine (Looking like I will opt for Race Developments)

Things I am not sure about - would appreciate some recommendations…based on the spec I am planning, just good to know what people are using and the tried and tested!

- Exhaust

-Uprated Clutch kit

- Suspension

- Anti-Roll Bar/Sway Bar Kits

- Engine Mounts/Bush kits

- Big Break Kits

Cheers

Jason

That little lot above will set you back circa £30k + and the car will be off the road for an age.

If I could turn back the clock I would have went to the Pub until the VW Garage had closed that fateful day, least the headache may have only lasted the one day.

Stage 2 nice and safe and can be enjoyed would be my advice if you've already got one.

Oh dear...not good! Thanks for the response!

I thought would cost bit...obsession just ends up burning a hole in your wallet I guess!

Stage 2 - whats that push if done properly, whats it entail?

Cheers

Jason

Most Stage 2 High torque APR make 440lb of torque and 400hp+ that’s plenty quick for around £4K with the right hardware.

Things  can quickly escalate out of control 🙄🙄 looking for big numbers 🤕

some guys have done it economically. My budget was £800 on power mods so I’m happy with 360hp 😳 honestly 🤔

Thanks all - appreciate the insight.

I got the part about stage 2 main requirements...seems pretty reasonable power gain vs cost!

Out of interest any thoughts on the TTE470R? Reading about it, seems less drastic than the TTE525R and stock internals could probably manage it? Just looking at options before I settle on a plan...for now!

G farmer runs the tt470 at Stage 3 and finds it the perfect level of tune for his road/track car and he’s very concouse of staying below 500hp with his stock internals he runs a healthy 470hp and 460flbs .

shockingly good setup.

Ask MRC about the Turbo Technics V4 turbo if you are speaking to them.

Seems to spool a little faster than the TTE525R from the dynographs I’ve seen.

i have it on my 7R which is pushing out 530 bhp and 620 NM on stock internals.

Also would highly recommend MSS Sport spring kit on a DCC vehicle.

Will post a little review about it.

Every driving mode has been improved (especially comfort) and the chassis is so much more assured now.

I’m tte 470 mrc, Went Stage 1/2 and then 470 all within a year. Only ever wanted stage 1 but was going down near mrc so fitted a sports cat and got stage 2 while I was there. The standard turbo are known to fail and was always on the back of my mind as I do couple track days in it and I’ve got trip to Germany this year so fitting a hybrid happened. I went 470 as more than enough for what I want/ need but did consider the 525. There are a good few options out there now. Turbo technics v4 and think v5 is coming out. Tte , revo and Apr . If you contact will a vrs they have just done a quick spool turbo and think it made about 490hp and ash at regal has just fitted one and made 460is on a base map and he’s testing it on track. I think you could run 500hp without building as I know a good few that do just depends how u drive your car and look after it.

Jason, what's the plan for the car? IMO I'd only go stage 3 for regular track work.

The good thing with is you could easily go stage 2 mods and tune to start with and see how that feels. I know MRC are getting up to 415ps 595nm on stage 2 cars.

Thats normally plenty for street snd occasuonal track work. With the added bonus of that torque kicking in just after 2k rpm so almost no turbo lag at all which is perfect for DD.

Im sure MRC should be able to guide you on best path and which turbo suits your needs for stage 3.

Like others have said the 470hp mark about the top level many would feel confident to run before looking at rebuilds.

Regarding exhausts I'd suggest the BCS full turbo back with the 100 cel cat. Would be best for Performace, sound, design and customer service.

Others can guide more on handking upgrades. I've found on street car that RSB and mp4s tyres more than enough.

I think you'll have a fun journey ahead going stock to stage 2/3.

Thanks for all the feedback guys!

The TTE470R or Turbo Technic v4 seem like good options, I am looking for street use and occasional track days. I had a few Golf's before, v6, few GTIs including an ED30 but this is my first R!

Thanks for the info GFarmer and RJW79 ...really good to know...I contacted MRC over the weekend and they are coming back to me with some options....on TTE470R and TTV4!

MRC actually mentioned i should consider the TTv4 before I even asked..they also said they can help with all the other bits but all depended on the brands I was interested in..so I just said I will take their recommendations for now...but will filter through the site and reach out to you guys for any questions!

I will look at the BCS exhaust and MSS Spring Kit..although what do people think about the Bilstein Coilovers? Anything better out there..handling is up there for me...any recommendations on giving a better ride and handling also appreciated.

Cheers!

Jason
