This is an epic build. Never heard of any changing the TB. Any serious gains with that?

Thanks mate 😄 will def keep this build updated when everything is done at the end of this month.

Car will be in the shop doing the install next week during me in Germany for the exhibition. Currently I am still waiting on the intake manifold coming back from ceramic coating.

Gain is not so important for me since car is already at the limit of stock engine as well as my power target but will be nice to see any gains added 😂 TBH I am not looking for more power when I bought them (intake manifold + throttle body), I just like modifying car and making engine bay looking mean but not too fancy.

Dyno sheet will be shared to compare before & after after both install and software are done

The billet intake manifold has finally came back from ceramic coating shop, did not expect that would take so long time to finish. The shop totally did 3 times coating to get everything perfect, very picky guy

Larger throttle body and 4x Aquamist CV jets installed...

Done... stock style :D

Did small change on meth fittings thanks to Aquamist 90 swivel adaptor

Now hoses looks proper running

After billet larger intake manifold and throttle body installed, I can DEF hear the exhaust sound got deeper, which is just what I love especially when pop & bang. AWESOME!! As for the power, I will dyno car again to see the number how much I have gained from these two mods with the same ECU software.

Another update is that my TVS DQ381 stage3 has been replaced by local tuned stage3 DQ381, the same tuner as whom tuned my ECU. Reason is that TVS could not get my slipping solved after I got my power increased over 500WHP, the slippage problem was happening right after gear change as I could see clutch temp went high very quick & RPM difference, this is because the required clamping pressure cannot keep up with the torque so clutch slipped during that moment. The required clamping pressure should be about 14-15bar to clamp firmly but TVS' does not, it started with 9 > 10 > 11 > 12bar .. that means it needs more time to get it clamped at 15bar, and before that my clutch is slipping. I would have ZERO problem if I don't do gear change with TVS DQ381 software, TVS' could hold my full torque with no issue on 4th gear wide open throttle, but it fell when gear change. Instead of TVS DQ381 gear change issue, my current DQ381 software can keep up with the torque correctly, 14-15bar clamping pressure right after gear change no more waiting time to claim from 9bar. Now the feeling for WOT is so solid and strong

Sorry that you have to remove the TVS DSG sw. How the car drivability now without the TVS drivability upgrade? I think it is one of their powerful options.

True... the TVS drivability upgrade is one of the best I have driven and I am missing that now. I would say TVS did a very good job on that. Current TCU doesn’t do smart and smooth as TVS but still the most important is to clamp the clutch firmly with no slippage. I was afraid that my DSG mecha get issue due to high clutch temps so it is necessary to switch to other who can really tune it correctly.

As far as I know TVS reduce the DSG temperature! Your DSG, Mechatronic, Clutches should be no problem because of this TVS option. Also, I saw many DSGs tuner by TVS reached 18bar in stock clutch (mainly DQ250) so why they couldn’t increase it for your setup?

To be honest, my clutch temp was a bit high since day 1 with TVS. 100degC normal driving and 110-130degC when WOT back to back. My current engine torque is about 650nm, which is within their DQ381 stage3 700nm limitation so it should not slip BUT it did slip right after gear change, and TVS dealer told me 700nm is just an ideal case :o

17-18bar on clamping pressure, more and more tuners can do that on DQ250. For example, our local tuner did a GTI6 running 100-200kph 6.8s with just TCU upgrade on DQ250, clamping pressure is 16-17bar to hold that kind of torque. My current TCU does 17bar on 2nd & 3rd gear WOT if necessary. Perhaps, TVS is the only one who can do this back to few years ago but IMO now TVS is only good at their drivability upgrade.

@mostic, here is one of DSG logs I have made when TVS asked me to make for them to check. You can see the temp is high, and this was just the thrid WOT starting from S1 without launch.

Below is the current TCU file I am running. You can find the difference on each gear change, the feeling is TOTALLY different and no more obviously torque loss during gear change.

Have you fitted additional coolers for the DSG box? Think there’s a few options around now.

Currently no plan on fitting a DSG oil cooler since I don't track my car at all just small races on high way :P:P

I also think it is not necessary to have DSG oil cooler as the temp is not high that require cooler, especially now I have TCU remap which made the temp lower.

What sort of times are you aiming for?

I will be happy if I could reach 10s 0-400m but I have never tried that :D

      Howdy folks,

My name is Sam and I am a proud owner of a one of a kind Black Golf 7R, DSG with 5 Doors. I have named her Raven (I have my reasons   )

Bit of background: I upgraded from a Mk5 GTI that was running a Stage 2+ Tune from R-Tech. My previous build thread (picture heavy) can be found here: http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,92146.0.html

I test drove a 7R at the start of 2016 and had my heart set on one ever since. However, I was too picky and wanted the exact specification I had in mind. Luckily I soon found the previous owner and have closely followed the development of this car from stock. I finally took ownership at the end of 2016. And needless to say...what a machine...
      To put things into perspective
      2011 GT-R R35: 523HP, 451LBFT, 1740KG
      2014 Raven: 550HP, 556LBFT, 1401KG
In her base form, she's a top spec Japanese Import 7R (2014 model). Factory spec includes:
      - 5 Door DSG in DBP
      - DCC (now swapped with VWR Coilies)
      - Discover Nav Pro with Reverse Camera
      - Sunroof
      - Keyless Entry
      - Black Leather interior with fully electric driver's seat adjustment
      - Lane Assist, Light Assist and all the other trimmings such as ACC etc
I do not have the mods list compiled - its' a big list.. so for now, enjoy some pictures. Feel free to follow my Insta @sam.7r for recent updates.

LOADS of changes have been made since I've taken ownership and there are plenty more in the pipeline. So stay tuned..
Most of the changes I've made are related to suspension, chassis, wheels, audio and some performance. There's few cosmetic bits too.

I will continue to update this thread as and when I can..

Latest Dyno Plot from March 2017:

Hi, Im looking to remap my R 7.5 to stage 1. The car has a few mods including a chameleon grey wrap but its time for more power. What is the best stage 1 map out there for the price? I don't mind buying an air intake or downpipes etc. as long as the I can feel a decent upgrade in power/torque.

I think it's time to set up a thread for my Golf. I did this on MiniTorque a few years ago with my R53 Cooper S and all of a sudden it went like a bat out of hell and I spent thousands.

That's what I plan on doing again, but on a better car, and this time, with more displacement, 4wd and a turbo. More potential for sure.

Picked up the car mid-April. I was looking around and originally was planning on getting DSG, and in the Lapiz blue. Went to Leicester to test drive theirs, but when I arrived, I was told it had sold. Great customer service. Anyway, back in Northampton we have a Parkway dealer. I test drove their Black 14 plate Golf R, fully specced apart from Pro Nav (bummer) and fell in love. Torquey, comfortable and full of gadgets. Everything I was lacking in the Cooper S (a shelled out tin can with bucket seats). I left a deposit and picked it up the following weekend.

I quickly got bored with the power. It just wasn't aggressive enough. Felt quick initially but the inertia of power quickly faded away. I was in communication with Will @ VRS Northampton (handy for me, only about 7 miles away) over email for a while, before I booked in for an APR Stage 1 Low Output map.

This transformed the car - how it should have been from factory. The turbo has a noticeably more satisfying note, the car pulls significantly harder and hits 1xx with ease. But, I have to go all out, or nothing at all, so this is only the beginning.

The clutch is slipping intermittently, so a quick call to Will to purchase their daddy of Paddle clutches. This should be fitted this week, along with VWR springs (coilovers are 100% in the pipeline, but not a necessity just yet).

Then the fun really begins. Stay tuned.

      CURRENT SPEC (15/06/16)

      - APR Stage 1 Low Output
      - Sachs Performance Clutch 4 Paddle Sintered
      - Carbon Mirror Caps
      - VWR Lowering Springs
      - Team Dynamic Pro Race 1.2 18" w/ Pilot Cup 2's

Developed this noise after getting an apr Downpipe and custom miltec exhaust fitted. Made it both on stage 1 and stage 2+ tune. Had people tell me it’s just the wastegate but figured I’d ask other R owners. Thoughts?
