What did you do to your R today?

Recommended Posts

Did something like that to my front bumper the other week.  Luckily my DA polisher and chemical guys V04 got most of it out.  Worth a try

Yes I agree. I had a nasty groovelike scratch on my DPB bumper and have rendered it back to super smooth. I’m just waiting for the still weather and courage to do the primer and paint phase. I do suppose that being black it’s the same as the colour beneath so I may have an advantage over you. Scary bananas stuff though but you’ll save hundreds.

Thanks for your comments, it's one of those sounds that makes your wallet groan.

Can the damage be repaired without the wheel having to be sent away?
Being diamond cut it would probably be best to send it away or leave it somewhere, depends on the mobile guy and what equipment he has I guess.

Always gut wrenching kerbing a wheel!

As its diamond cut, proper refurbishment back to factory standard, requires a specialist diamond cutting lathe which not all repairers have, especially mobile repairers, so you need to check, if it’s a proper refurb you want.  The likes of Lepsons (Kent) and Pristine Wheels (Milton Keynes) do have this equipment and are well renowned for their quality refurbs of diamond cut and powder coated wheels. They do a courier service too so might be worth a look at their websites.

Thanks Dave and Rebecca

I’ll get it done properly but not just yet. Knowing my luck I’ll kerb it the day after

That's the joy of it isn't it, especially diamond cut wheels... they can only be returned a certain number of times too as each time a layer is taken off.... mind you at least each time is lightening your alloys

I have been loading the R' this afternoon, leaving for my Swiss road trip in the morning.

Swiss Toll vignette, Emovis Tag for French tolls, and the DART crossing charge  all sorted.

Gave the old girl a proper detailing,, 2 stage machine polish, using Menzerna 3 in 1 polish, then using Menzerna Show Finish, and finally finishing off using Maguiars Fast Wax, which I highly recommend, lasts ages, next up, is to polish and seal all windows using Maguiars Glass polish and sealant.
