A Rover Maestro shudder!!

Learned in a Rover Metro and instructor changed car 2 weeks before my test.

Have not seen a Maestro for ages!

This in 1965. It's a 1950-something Ford Escort (hatchback version of the Ford Popular). I failed the first time 'cos the clutch was knackered and it was a b*gg*r to change gear. Passed second time after fixing the clutch.

Lush car. It’d probably be sold as a Classic or Collectors restoration project now!😀

Cool car in its day.👍

I had the MG Metro, but traded it in after a couple of years for an XR2, much better car.

Metro ate front tyres

1966 Morris 1100, real easy to do 'Hill Starts' as it had what was called I think 'Hydralastic' suspension, as you took the load on the clutch, the back end used to raise a small amount, this gauranteed a smooth start.

I took my first test in a  1975 mustard coloured Morris Marina 1.7 which my Dad said he buy for me if I passed - I failed and missed a truly awful car. I passed a few years later in a 78 Mk1 Escort, great little car!

Must have been a mk2? Thought they stopped making the mk1 in 1974 or thereabouts.

Black mk2 escort estate ( military vehicle)

I was at the army apprentice college, borrowed the padre's staff car for the test and one of the platoon sergeants took me for the test .

Should have failed but I knew what I had done wrong so he let me off

Ok I’ll kick off. Recently laughing with. My lovely wife about how complicated new cars have become and how we take the features for granted.  Harked back to simpler cars at Driving Test time.

Great steering and gear change.
