The R will win in the drag and rolling
Seems like it is tuned differently than the S3

I’d like to see a non-PP 8R in there

in previous CarWow videos it got to 1/4 mile faster (12.3/12.5)

maybe the smaller wheels or less drag (no wing)

Either way

it just shows they are very comparable

and still better than 135 and a35

I cant see how the new S3 is 1610kg, thats nearly as much as the RS3! Also pretty sure the 8R is more than 1525kg. That's more like 7/7.5R weight. No idea where Carwow gets its stats from!

Quite poor quarter mile times compared to previously, but they are all relatively slow. This is a different drag strip to what they've used in the past when they got faster drag times so wondering is the surface is not so grippy.

Must admit I thought it was a non-pp 8r with Estoril Alloys

Could be, I did it see the wing clearly, just assumed due to the Estorils.

Either way, for drag races a more meaty tyre is always better.

I thought it was the same track and only the vegetation around looks different due to season. If it’s a different track then it can differ much more, due to incline, grip, wind, and many other factors. The proper way is to due it back and forth, so you average it to eliminate incline and wind (grip may still differ).

It is a non-PP, weight is about right, for a non-PP with cloth interior

12.5 -12.9 is about what 8R does in the 1/4, lower than 12.5 are few and exceptions IMO

I do between 11.0 and 11.4 but I have 527hp

I think this is one of the first 8R drag races:

Note two things, the traffic control tower which is not in the vid posted above, so different drag strip. The other thing is the 8R weight. In this vid they decided it's 1551kg!!! 😆

And the result..............

Good eye … I didn’t catch that

different tracks will definitely yield different times

Re weight, I seem to recall a figure of 1,545 kg curb weight (I think it means 90% fuel, and 75kg driver, but am not sure). But can’t recall where I got it from.

I do expect different specs to have different weight (wing, sunroof, wheels, seats, etc) but am not sure by how much.

Maybe it’s the engine cover, or lack there of 🙂
