Hey guys, completely new to this.

I have a 2015 7R currently running a custom Racingline stage 1 map and a Res delete, I wanna go that extra bit louder with the decat now.

Been scouring online for days about all this talk about stage 2 which I really don’t want, I’m happy with the power - I just want the noise.

I spoke to my tuner who is urging me to get stage 2 for £500 and then intakes etc which I really don’t want, he isn’t really giving me the option to “alter” my current map to support the decat.

What can I do to get around this? Are their any other reputable companies that could alter my map for a decent price?

If not I’m looking into just getting a custom backbox delete to make things simpler, but I’m not 100% on the sound. Any recommendations/suggestions? Thank you!!

From chatting to multiple tuners/exhaust manufacturers/members over the past couple of days you will never pass an mot without a cat, even with a sports cat I wouldn't bother taking it to VW as you need to rev the car before testing.

If it's just sound you're after then look into a Cat back exhaust? Loads of options with videos to suit your taste of sound.

if you want a de-cat DP then i'm almost certain you will need to go stage 2, which is then recommended upgraded intake/intercooler

the cost of that along with updating your ECU tune + you would need TCU tune aswell. you're well into £1k's

Also, wouldn't a de-cat DP with stock backbox have a shit tonne of drone?

How would your insurance be affected with a de-cat?

You can't really get insurance with a de cat.

not really possible to insure a non road legal vehicle for use on the roads.

Have a chat with Nigel at BCS, I reckon you could fit one of his 200cell sports cat down pipes and then have the O2 sensor coded out without having to go stage 2.

Yeah that’s what I’m going for. Spoke to SGR Performance in Manchester who said it’ll be fine on stage 1, just fit the o2 sensor which will take out the EML light.

I just got the car MOT’d last week, will have sold it by the time the next MOT comes around :)

Looked at custom backbox deletes etc, even the exhaust shops have advised against it as they said it’ll be unbearably loud for a daily.

With SGR they said the car will be fine at stage one with decat, but EML will be permanently on, hence why you fit the O2 sensor which effectively fools the car into thinking it has a cat and the EML light stays off

as for stage 2, my upgrade is free with Racingline, would just have to buy the R600 intake for £300 if I did decide to do it, but tbh I don’t really want too as my stage 1 is a 1/1 custom map with extremely aggressive pops & bangs and they said it probably wouldn’t be the same as this on stage 2 as it won’t be custom

So, with the current details available to us, what are your current thoughts or intentions towards purchasing a MK8 Golf?

Are you a dead cert to pick up a model at some point, undecided or disappointed on whats on offer?

It would be good to see what the current general consensus is.

Hi all, just got a 2020 Golf R and after some simple instructions on how to activate launch control!?

So I'm deciding whether to buy a 2015 MK7 Golf R white for £17,400 with 29k miles (private) OR 'Approved Used' 2015 Lapiz Blue MK7 Golf R for £19,100 with 12k miles.
The approved used one is from a dealer so it comes with 12 months warranty which I would've bought (extended warranty for a year) so it saves me ~£630.

All the other MK7 Golf Rs I can see for sale are around £18,000 for 2015 with 30-40k mileage and £19,000 for 2016 models with roughly the same mileage.

I will be selling the car in a years time so I'm not too sure which one to go for? This might be a dumb Q but does mileage outweigh the reg/production year even if the car is lower mileage than the 2016 higher mileage? I will probably do max 7000 miles in the year.
Also, if the Used Approved ones are ex-demos should I avoid them??

Been looking for quite a while so would appreciate your suggestions- many thanks!

Hi all have had a rear differential oil leak and have noticed it’s from this small hole in the rear diff was wondering if it’s a breather hole for the rear diff but was wondering if there should be a pipe or something there to stop the oil from coming out
