Yakima whispbar roof bars

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, thanks for you’re reply . It’s a 5 door 2014.

i can’t seem to figure out where the door should sit? Inside of the roof rim or outside ?
the pads don’t seem to fit the body contour ?

That little step in the foot should locate against the rain lip on the roof. It can be tricky to see where it locates; try lifting the outer gaiter soits almost inside out. That tends to keep it out of the way when you’re locating the rubber feet. The step has a rounded profile so it won’t fit completely flush at all points to the roof lip. That’s designed in, and allows a little articulation to account for the bars being fitted not exactly true. Your photos look like you’re fitting the bars correctly.

Thanks for you’re reply and advice...however when I rest the edge of the foot against the the rain lip...the rest of the foot just sticks out and doesn’t hug the contour of the car at all ? Not convinced that it will spread the weight correctly and not damage the rain lip ?

dont know if they have sent me the wrong foot pack perhaps ?

Yes, it looks as if you might have been seen the wrong foot pack.

I’d be contacting the seller and sending them pictures of how the feet sit (or more correctly, don’t sit) on the roof so they can see the fitment doesn’t look correct. Hopefully, they’ll be able to send you a replacement foot pack.

It may be worth measuring the length of bar you have between the feet. Too much or two little will cause issues ingetting the feet located properly with the ridge in the rain gutter.
