What colour would you pick...

Recommended Posts

I'm a bit safety-first so I've always disliked colours that seem to disappear/blend into the road, particularly in the rain and low light conditions with the setting sun in your eyes.  This means that black, grey, dark blue and silver were never a consideration for me.  VW Oz were very unadventurous with colours when I bought my wagon, so Oryx white was the "least worst" option for me.  I tried to buy one in Ginster/Broom Yellow (very bright) but even when I offered a non-refundable deposit they wouldn't budge.  I also like the look of the radioactive green and the bright purple :)

But in hindsight having an anonymous white wagon that looks a bit like a kitchen appliance helps me avoid unwanted attention when driving a tad too enthusiastically ....

As always, ETTO.  It's your money and your choice  👍

I bought a mk6 but it had to be white

I've always liked this colour too....

I would probably go for ultra violet (again) here is a pic of my old Rocco, it's a great colour and really pops in the sunlight.   Sent from my fingers

The Best thing about it is I love to drive, but on the roads I don't have the urge to race anyone anymore, not that I ever really did I guess... I'm sure there are some cool stories on saxo and corsa sites about epic race wins against a white Golf R emoji1787.png

Oh if you are looking at ars for sale there are specialists sites... PM me emoji6.png

Ageed, I mean if your car goes 0-60 in 3.5 and the car behind is going 4.5, it's still keeping up with you. So meh :)

Still best floats mine too. Drawbacks? We all know that black cars show dirt quickly but there’s something sexy about a filthy black car

You got that right Rebecca. A really old and loud black mk4 GTI drove past me while I was on foot a few weeks ago. I more than took a double take. I don't think it would have made such an impression on me if it was clean and shiny. It was sooted. Prety sure there was a soft toy dragging on the road at the back as well. Why would a mk4 be clean and shiny anyway? Got to appreciate the hood for what it is. Ain't never wiping it out. I tip my hat.

I’ve come to really like the mk4’s Gtis in these last few years and see a few round my way, both dirty and clean cars.  No trailing soft toys but definitely lots of magic tree air fresheners hanging from the RVM. 😁

I like the contrast of driving and the car getting dirty through daily use, then cleaning it up, getting it dirty again, and clean............

Bit like fuelling up, draining the tank and fuelling up again and doing it all again.  😁   For me spending time on cleaning and protecting paintwork etc is another form of car maintenance alongside the usual things to keep the car looked after internally and externally.

Mk6 has aged so well. I hope our mk7s age as well as this.

I get a real Gotham City Joker / Smiler from Alton Towers vibe from the rear LEDs. Really mean look. The mk7 rear LEDs I get more of a Terminator vibe. Just me I think 😁

I'm on my second Lapiz R, far and away my favorite standard color available in the States.  In theory I could have ordered the second R in a Spektrum color.  Several in the green-to-blue range look intriguing.  It wasn't practical at the time and nailing the "right" color would have been a gamble.  Color chips and screen photos only go so far.  Even though Lapiz is likely the most popular color, there are so few R's around here you don't see yourself coming and going.  Among the five US-spec standard colors, if Lapiz was verboten, I'd probably go for Tornado Red (over Deep Black Pearl, Oryx, or Indium).
