Axle stands

Recommended Posts

This might be a bit of a silly question, but I can't figure out how you get the golf on axle stands!

I'd I jack it up at the reinforced weld jacking points, I don't have enough space to fit the axle stand in. And the car, well, doesn't have any axles

My jack isn't heavy duty enough to lift it high enough from say the rear to put a stand at the front.

Who has edited my post and put a pic of a lapiz hatch in it?! And why?

Definitely need to invest in a decent Jack.
I've seen that one, thanks. I rarely need to do this kind of work on my car, so didn't want to go crazy with the gear. I only got the axle stands so I could do my JB4 install and removal

That must be a Tapatalk glitch.  Assume you initially posted up the thread through Tapatalk and not the VWROC website.

That is not in your post on the VWROC forum website proper.  See screenshot below.  Certainly VWROC admin/mods have not edited it.

So is there no way other than raising from the opposite end of the car using a bigger jack?

I saw one video of a guy with a GTI, and he located a bolt that was fairly central nearer the front of the car, and lifted from there. I had a quick peek under the R and couldn't see one similar.

These are good. Jack fits between the legs of the axle stand allowing the car to be raised, then just adjust the legs of the stand to suit. Once secure, lower and remove the jack.

Great idea, shame they're not available in the UK
