I am trying to find out for sure what the changes are on the 2.0 TSI EA888 EVO4 engine are. I know it meets the latest pollution regs it has a higher pressure fuel pump and new injectors and a bigger cat.
Looking at my engine it has the camshaft lift actuators on the inlet camshaft as far as I know the actuators were on the exhaust camshaft on the GEN 3 engine.

This is the camshaft lift solenoid

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I was looking to install the muffler delete and larger diameter intake elbow on my new car but after inspecting the engine it doesn’t seem to have an intake elbow at all? Is this an update to the EA888? I’m guessing it’s not possible to fit anymore?

What car do you have? I believe the new EVO4 engines have the newer Continental turbos so will be a different design to the IS38 possibly leaving the elbow behind.

I have the latest T-Roc R model. I thought the new badges were the only real update but it definitely seems to have a slightly different engine layout.

So is it confirmed that the new facelift MY22+ T-Roc gets the EA888.4 engine and the new bigger continental turbo ?
