As a few people have and are now placing orders, and as is customary, seems the time is right to start an official mk8 R order thread!   So people can share their spec and details of their new R orders.  Nice to see who is ordering what, and also to welcome any new members venturing into R ownership with a mk8!

What lead time are you expecting as I understand the factory is closed so likely to be into April I would imagine?

I see you get heated steering wheel as standard which is nice but shame it doesn’t include heated/climate windscreen.

I got told 10-12 weeks which suits to be honest.

@Northern Monkey  Is that a UK order?  
 

It’ll be interesting to gauge the early UK lead in/delivery times as more people place orders and post up details in here.  Not enough info atm, and but if delivery times are going to be months as is the norm then I’ll be putting in order sooner rather than later.  With my 7R I ordered it in Jan and it arrived end Sept.

I’ve been a bit rash.

After “deciding” I was going to keep my R long term, I’ve just got on the bandwagon with this leasing game...

Will be selling my mk7.5 to take advantage of my low mileage and good used prices currently in anticipation of my mk8 arrival

Still waiting for confirmation but have ordered:

Black
Pano roof
Winter pack.

Not the rs3 I wanted, nor is it any of the other options for cars I had been considering, but January blues struck and I’ve taken the plunge to give myself something to look forward to.

Only a 2 year deal so can look into something a bit different after this lease when Covid is hopefully in our review view mirror and pricing / demand / supply has reset itself a bit better.

Thanks.  Estimated/unconfirmed build weeks can jump about a lot unfortunately.  Perhaps when a few more orders go in there’ll be a better idea of a baseline for delivery times.

That is strange!, did order mine 23 dec and have a slot Week 8.. But that is a left hand drive car. Is the problem that you will have a Right hand drive?-
