Soundaktor - what level is yours at?

I need to get an obd11 or similar and play with the settings, it annoys me every time I drive it!

Might go down the res delete route too, need to see how it sounds on an estate first though 🤔

Be aware that drone at highway speeds can irritate some drivers, particularly without the anti-drone tube some manufacturers can supply.

It's all about personal preferences, there is no objective/absolute right or wrong on this subject (despite what some people may strongly believe about "their" opinions being the only ones that matter

0% I have a Res delete and that sounds just dandy as it is Sent from my fingers

Set to 0 , just so I can hear the best exhaust note you will ever hear on this platform 😁👌( BCS  Powervalve )

I got one of these Black Friday.

Absolutely love it, has the low drone pipe but it’s definitely loud at full load on motorway still.

At 70mph it’s fine anything over is, but I love it.

Im lookng at these at the moment. Which did you opt for? Nige advised me that if I get the prestige system I would have to cut my Scorpion downpipe down a bit. Did you get resonated or non res? Got a res delete now but considering going resonated and leaving the valves open, as opposed to non resonated and closing the valves

Yeah, I’ve done the droney exhaust on a previous car and that got tiring very quickly!

Will bear that in mind, thanks.

Might be happy enough after I’ve adjusted the soundaktor, so will try that first I think.

What’s wrong with with fake noise? I have a GT3 with straight pipes and believe me that’s spine tingling at 9k rpm  (and deafening), and I have the R set to 100% because I think it sounds great. (I also have OBDELEVEN and have tried the settings).

I don’t get this at all - it should be about how you feel when driving? Please enlighten the me.

The one issue I found I had, admittedly not an every day one, is that I had set it at 35% and did a 630 mile drive. My head felt like it had been used as a punch bag. For future, I won't have in sport, but put it into individual or Eco (with PedalBox turned all the way up).

As has been said, its personal taste. I found 100% far too intrusive and noisy for me, and too unnatural. I find 15-25% more my cuppa tea, and it compliments the natural engine noise rather than drown it out.

I am also in the camp of not wanting to have a really noisy car, and I'd probably be embarrassed to drive around in a straight piped GT3. Again, each to their own. While I realise many seemingly like to share the noise their car makes with all and sundry, tbh I prefer the noise a Tesla makes and find my self shaking me head in disapproval at overly noisy cars and bikes - and yes, I am a little hypocritical when the R pops and bangs as many think that is too noisy. If you are happy with fake noise (which I am, just to a lesser level), then everyone is happy.

As an aside, I hope your GT3 won't fall foul of the new cameras coming that measure sound. https://www.sytner.co.uk/news/acoustic-cameras-coming-soon/

What would have been good, and I don't know why it wasn't ever deemed something that people would find useful to have, is that you could adjust it through the infotainment rather than plugging in OBD11 or VDCS.

FWIW - I'm currently at 25%, but no doubt I will change (less) and think it better. I am tempted to go 100% for a while, just to remind myself what it was like.

Mines at 50%, but I think 40% might be a better balance with the wagon exhaust when I want to feel “sporty”, ie in Sport or Individual with engine noises on.

It’s not a bad fake of induction rort but too loud as stock for mine.

I need to get VCDS out and fiddle again.

Mine is set to Eco - 25%? I have occasionally put it to Race to remind myself.

It does sound fun and does add some excitement to driving around, but then I remember it's not an RS3 engine and that sound is fake

...sorry...I mean "amplified".

In fact - how fake is the sound really? Is it truly just "natural engine vibrations" being passed up the windscreen like I've heard? Is it a speaker with a sound file? Does anyone actually know? I tried to research but surprisingly, given how many cars out there have the VAG Soundaktor, there isn't much details out there.

You can adjust it via the headunit on the 7.5's.

Yea, using driving mode -> individual settings you can set Interior engine sound to race (100%), normal (50%) or eco (25%).

You can only set it to 0% through VCDS or OBDEleven (or by physically unplugging it).
