smk82 Posted January 12, 2021 Report Share Posted January 12, 2021 Just had the car in for MOT today (which it passed), and i'd also asked the garage to check an error that we'd spotted cropping up intermittently when we started the car - stating "don't move - workshop only" - this would disappear after a while/not come up sometimes - it appeared once whilst moving. On investigation it has been apparently a known issue with the DSG box; which the garage has stated would require replacement of the unit (I thought it might have just been a software issue from what i could find from similar threads on the web) as it might be fine for 6 months, 6 weeks or 6 days.. no way of telling when it would fail.. Advised the cost would be somewhere >£850 ish This is a 2016 R estate (so the 6 speed box) - is this a fair price (independent garage here, not a direct dealer). I checked with VW direct and there wasn't any recalls for this, despite it apparently being a flagged/known issue. Alas as I'm out of warranty I'm having to pay the full whack..😭. I presume also it would just be a direct like/like replacement (i.e. they wouldn't fit the 7 speed box from the 7.5?) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
