DSG Service Interval

Hi all,

 

Would like your opinion on how I should go about this. I've looked at both the official VW and Audi sheets (for service interval guidelines). The Haldex is required to be serviced every 3 years regardless of distance travelled. The DSG however, clearly states a service interval of 40000 miles (almost 65000km) on both the Audi and VW sheets. I've linked the files I have referenced.

 

I have all the required tools required to perform the DSG service, but reading the above sheets, I feel like maybe I don't need to. It's a 2017 MK7 R and just ticked over 18000kms. Haldex service was done last year per guidelines and this year I was expecting to do the DSG.

What would you do?

Haldex is every 3 years as stated (officially).

Mk7 DSG is every 40k / 80k for the Mk7.5 7 speed

I DIY’d mine on my drive at around 20k miles.

I think do the DSG between 30-40k miles or every 3-4 years depending on driving style and age.

Yeah I am leaning towards doing it TBH. Every 4 years seems a reasonable time and probably looks good on my service records if I ever need to sell. (though I cant see that happening)

Aye - even if it hasn’t had to work very hard doing Miles, the stuff is still 4 years old.   Personally can’t see ing but good by doing it.  I could detect smoother, quieter working on earlier cars. 😀

Servicing a car above and beyond it’s official schedule is always a good thing in my opinion.

+1 on this suggestion.  (had my DSG done at 33k miles last year).  If you have an Extended Warranty then I'd just be aware of making sure that what you do is not in any way likely to impact on that.  I can't see them arguing over over servicing but you never know!

Have always gone early on everything on my cars, did the RS3 DSG / Haldex at 15k
Oil every 5K plugs every 10k

I had my Haldex done at 3 years and my DSG at 4, even though it had only done 29,000 miles. It wasn't a lot of money if I recall, think it was £69.

 

One thing I wont pay for is the £139 air conditioning service they keep trying to flog me. Ridiculous price.

Had my DSG serviced at 4 years. It’s cheaper than a replacement box. It’s approaching 6 years old now but still nowhere near 40k miles

No, it’s 80k for the 7 speed.  It’s also listed in that document in the first post.

Cheers, my old eyes must of missed it. I think I'll get mine done before 80k though.

Wise move.  I’d get it done as per the 6 speed.

Yeah I think that would be the best way, I doubt I'll have the car at 80k but you never know. 😂
