Booth11
Time for a new 8R thread! Share your 8R purchases here, big or small, medium or minuscule. To kick off......a mini one. Following the footrest cover, made another very small purchase for incoming 8R. A big thank you to @Peter Wynnewho had a browse for key covers and posted up a link in another thread 👍 I bought this silicone key fob cover. Had very similar on my 7R key fob for years and it was great. Looks the job. And be even better when I actually have the key to put it on....and even better than that when I have a car for the key to start! 😁 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08JLQDWPD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Penguin, Aid7072, Speedy27 and 5 others
Peter Wynne
Looks great! Is the aliexpress footrest still going to be a requirement in the 8? Sill protectors? Replacement bonnet strut? I take great joy in making other people spend money 😆 Booth11
Booth11
And another one from a couple weeks back. An AliExpress special! Footrest cover. Same as the one that did sterling duty on 7R, that went with the car to new owner so splashed out on a new one for the 8R. So I bought this one a few weeks back https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32706138749.html I need no encouragement to spend my money. 😂 Peter Wynne

I’m going to phone Lockwood on Monday to find out if they’re going to do logo ones for 8R (atm they don’t have any mk8 ones) and if so, see if I can persuade them to extend the forum discount I previously set up to cover them. But will also look at the RGM ones in black as think those would suit a Lapiz R well. Bonnet strut, I’ll wait until someone else has been the guinea pig for that....maybe! I put the RGMs - black ABS Sillguards and Rearguard on my Atlantic Blue 7.5, and I think they blend in pretty well. No bling for me. Of course 'black' isn't really black but not a problem I think. Strut or no strut, I still ain't buying an 8. 🙂 Booth11

Just saying product not found. I hate threads like this, just make me spend money 😂... just ordered one of those silicone cases... why is the blue one £2 more than the other colours 🤬😂

I’ve long liked the RGM ones but my mk7R being DBP they weren’t quite right, not being black black, so it was Lockwood’s for me. You really have to see Lockwood’s in the flesh because they’re not bling. They photograph as very very shiny and of course they’re solver but in reality are more a brushed silver but that doesn’t come across in pics. I’m feeling more black for my Lapiz and can see me swapping out the mirror caps for black so atm I’m swaying towards black sill protectors. However even if I don’t go for Lockwood brushed silver ones myself, it’s still worth me finding out if/when 8R ones might be forthcoming and if so, sorting some discount (as is currently available for forum members for 7/7.5 ones) as they’ll very likely be something others are interested in. The 8R not for everyone. Gas strut or no gas strut. Especially when you have a lovely Atlantic 7.5 and are very happy with it.

Mike No Mike, they are simply a silicone sleeve. If you want that, you’ll have to either buy a faraday pouch or look for a fob cover that offers that protection. Loads of faraday pouches on Amazon. Martin2
The key cover is a very good idea, as the gloss back fob will scratch as soon as you touch it and the silicon sleeve looks pretty smart and very ‘R’. Booth11

Hi Rebecca, Tks, I had a niggly feeling they did not offer the 'Cage protection, best to be safe, by the way they do look quite smart. ToRnado_R
My 2 cents on this. I have a couple of the pouches but I found them inconvenient to use so I bought a Faraday boxOne of these:https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07W48SWLKI just found i was not using the pouches as with keyrings etc. They either didn't fit or were really tight. This box takes a second to open and you just drop in the keys. I'll use the pouches if I ever go anywhere. And the rubber cover I've got one very similar they keep the keys clean.Sent from my fingers JaseW and Booth11
