@AHG Yes you can have speed sign recognition without it controlling the speed of the car but you need to select ACC and not full on travel assist. Well at least you can in our car.

The problem with a lot of this stuff is you need to dive deep in the settings menus to get the settings just how you want them. Not helped when the settings are sometimes in different places.

We generally have as much assistance turned off as possible. Except front assist which is needed for emergency brake assist and ACC.

I understood the first time, but I respectfully disagree 🙂

I think there is a way to use Travel Assist (i.e. CenterLane keeping + ACC) without having the sign recognition determine the speed limit for it.

I won’t see my car until tomorrow so can’t find the menus right now.

OBDeleven can do it for sure (Module 13 ACC - Long Coding - Traffic Sign detection) but I’m 99% it is doable via menus as well.

How good is the airfare?  We are surrounded by smoke here from Hazard reduction burns in our bush land near the city, and with the pollution so high, the aircare feature is just outstanding for those of us living with chronic asthma.  It’s brilliant.

It is indeed

Combine it with circulation and you’re golden

Whenever we go past live stock or a freshly manured field with the windows open, air care comes to our rescue (we call it “cow-fart mode”).

I plan to code my circulation not to reset to open (it does if the car is off for over 15 minutes)

I still haven’t done but will soon

“Store recirculation air setting for terminal 15 off“

It’s a really useful feature and does work very well.  I tend to use driving past the local water treatment facility which can be quite ripe at times, and in the countryside if needed to counter those earthy scents; but it’s also good in city traffic especially if behind some smoke belching old banger.

Had a search today. It's under the assist menu, AAC, then you can turn off "Sign preview" and "Junction preview". They are the settings which interfere with the AAC from what I've found playing today. Disabling the junction preview option might resolve that motorway sliproad "panic you're at a 10mph roundabout, oh no wait it's just the A1" thing some of us get.

I'd rather have the speed sign as a little reminder on the dash and drive the car. I think I'd have bough a lesser Mk8 if I wanted it to do the driving for me.

@Booth11Hiya Becs, hope you are well 😊

Just wondered if it might be an idea to set set up a new thread within the mk8 golf thread for the the 8.5 / facelift ? I’ve found a couple of photos of a non R facelift that I thought could start the topic, it just seems to be a recurring topic of late and I’m sure will increase as we get closer to its reveal.

Just an idea.
