I’d expect the only difference to be in the stud inserts

(like the L version)


This is the stud recess in the old cover:

and this is the rigid insert (in white) in the L version, that the Tiguan and other models had the cover replaced with:

When used, in the new one you can here the click of each stud going into the insert, while in the old one there was no audible click since the recesses are soft and therefore they tear up.

I am taking the wheel into Wheel Class in Sittingbourne on Wednesday so I decided to try removing the R badge with a plastic trim tool and... it was surprisingly easy!

 

Thanks again TechieAli for the suggestion, all set for refurbishment and colour change to gloss black now 😀
