Topped mine up with a 1/2 litre last year.  No oil light, but I was doing one of my regular check of the fluids (plus was heading off on a long trip) and dip stick showed it could take a little so topped it up a with half a litre.  With this oil

Just bought some and chucked it in.

The warning on my app went off straight away, so at least that works 😄

Eventually got around to booking the car in for the SOS / steering wheel issue - they need it for a day to run diagnostics to send to Germany..

Don’t let them send the car to Germany 😉

Just kidding, of course, but the shop doesn’t really run diagnostic themselves and then the results to Germany.

They connect it to a dongle, and Germany is running diagnostic in remote and in real time, and it takes about 20min.

So I don’t think they need time for ‘running’ or ‘sending’, as they just connect a dongle, press a button, and let ‘Ze Germans’ do it all online, and then they tell the shop what to do.

My guess is that they ask for a day so you won’t bug them and so they have ‘room to move’ in their schedule (since there usually only 1-2 diagnostics portals so there may be a line) and also if they need to do a software update.

Hi, i noticed my car doesn't have the engine cover. I've read the reasons for this.

When the replacement engine cover is available, can i still get one or will i need to buy it?

As i am not the original owner, so i am unsure how the process will work.

Mine is booked in with vw on 20 october for noisy suspension. Thet got back to me saying they will be fitting an engine cover too, as part of a recall. So they are available. 180kw and above get a hard plastic one, the rest get the foam one.

Mine's booked in for new engine cover to be fitted next Thursday.

Replacement steering wheel not yet in but one's ordered in April are coming through so hopefully the May ordered ones (mine) won't be too much longer.

Did they contact you for the engine cover Becs? Or did you ring them?

I rang them Andy.  I think if I was waiting for them to phone me, I’d still be waiting this time next year. 😂  They said they became available about a week ago and take around 5 days to come in so they’ve ordered it and booked me in for a waiting appointment next week to fit it.  Give your dealership a call.

Thanks Becs, I will give them a call tomorrow. And I also need mention they can look at the sos bongs that they said would go away when an OTA update occurred!! No OTA has happened in the last week or so!

Yes, be persistent with them about the SOS errors Andy.  Hopefully they’ll put you down for a new steering wheel.

Thanks Becs, I do hope so.  Usually if you keep going back, they’ll take action to sort it …. just to get rid of you!
