I can't believe the car has a processor big enough to do image analysis if it is using the camera as well as radar. believe, brother, it does. I think they mean “newl” as in mk8 If this is true - we have it as well assuming we all have side sensors (in the wheel arch) ’cause some places get it without those and side assist

If that is done automatically it would seem to be a good thing. I agree. And it would be odd to expect that every assist warning is the result of software glitch rather than a genuine warning when there are conditions present to warrant such behaviour of the system. jason1972
There is nothing wrong with having the car warning you of a compromise of the safety systems ie front assist but there are so many bugs and issues on some of our cars that any warning now just becomes pointless. If a system cant function correctly due to, for example, the front camera view being obscured by say ice, then why not have a meaningful warning like "windscreen camera view obscured"!!!! On mine the auto main beam function sometimes fails and i am sure i have seen a message along the lines of "clean the windscreen" but all these just "failed" errors are completely pointless and meaningless as to thier cause even if some are due to a vaild reason. aldfort
I think I mentioned before the complexity of the software. This is not helped by automakers using what, at least for me, are underpowered CPU's. The warning messages are, it would seem, generic out of necessity. At least on current generation cars they are helpful to an extent. My last gen Audi tells me that stability control is unavailable and it turns out to be a manifold pressure sensor or some such thing that has faulted. A little more CPU headroom might make coding a little easier and might make the messages a little more useful. Maybe this is why Cariad are partnering with Qualcomm to develop more integrated solutions better suited to automotive applications. Any move away from mobile phone CPU's can only be good IMHO. Dannybear83
I was chatting to my neighbour she got 1.5 2021 Golf for her disability car, She had issues with flickering camera never had travel assist issues, car was updated to 1899 last week and she has travel assist issues now and the infotainment screen keeps randomly rebooting
AHG
Tell her to reboot (20sec on infotainment power button) when the engine is on (switch on, without brakes). It may have happened because of the update itself (not necessarily because of the new version) I think the shop are supposed to reboot after update maybe they didn’t

Microbe
I see, so best to rebook it for 4-6 months after the "fix" 😂 Dannybear83
AHG
Think of the wheel changing as maintenance, like engine oil 🙂 dopper99 and Microbe
