I had a call from the dealers last week to say they hadn't forgotten me but no wheel yet which was nice 🙂 The drivers side puddle light has now started to fracture so I'll ring and ask them to do it when they fit the wheel or my next service due in July whichever is sooner. The passenger side doesn't look too bad atm, does anyone know if they come as a pair or individually? Booth11

So far as I know the puddle lights are individual. I had my passenger one replaced as that fractured. The drivers side is holding up ok so far. Might as well, get both done at same time, it’ll only succumb over time anyway.

They said approx £400 for the steering wheel + 2 hours labour Maybe they meant 1400 pounds + 2 hours of labor That would be in line with the @Microbe's 1563 and @Dannybear83's 1550
damianmkv
Maybe.I asked the head tech how confident he is that the steering wheel will fix the bongs“I hope” he said. Soooo, not very then…They’ve updated me to 1896 and done something to “fix” the black screen re-boots but whether this happens or not time will tell. I asked why it’s only the centre screen and he couldn’t tell me just said there’s more updates coming…
AHG
Can you ask them what the something was ?
damianmkv
He said the official VW reply was to disconnect the battery, leave it, then re-connect it and start again. He didn’t believe that will work - the old IT department “turn it off and turn it on again”. Sounded to me like a hard reset of some sort
AHG
I’m a very big fan of the “IT crowd” way of fixing things. It started when I was messing with DOS in the 80s and with windows 3.11 in the 90s as a student. It kept on working with iPhones, iPads and MacBook (they have some elaborate ways to reset stuff), and in the last year with my car 🙂 So many different levels of restart, reboot, sift/hard reset … sometimes it’s all it takes

Can anyone find out (ask the dealer ?!) what is the cost of the new steering wheel (+ labor) if a client was to pay for it fully ? I have a fear it may arrive after warranty has expired (I’m on the 2 year international one) and want to prepare myself to the expense (if it happens) On my Mk8 GTi today, I was quoted £512.84 inc VAT plus 3-4 hours labour, they were unable to specify a delivery date, just said it could be a few months! AHG
Thank you So that’s 2:2 for the 500 vs 1500 reports 🙂 can you tell me the hourly rate they charge ? (If it’s 250 that can explain the difference)
